whats that 'world record' they are upto? Had a quick sneak peek into the video but didn't quite get it. Is it like a bungee? No parachute at all? I saw two guys pulling the jumper over to the wall. And guess the overhang is OVER enough to keep them off the wall once taut Smile

THEY ALL MAD ..for sure

that second video looks like they are trying to set the record of most 180's

I have been at that for longer than those guys, but lost wind in the last few years, for a few reasons.

it's all very well calculated. These guys are very good at what they do.

not bungee, dynamic. like a shock absorber. a bungee is like a spring. these systems are only made to slow the fall of a jumper.

right on! :D

Why are Russians so crazy? And do they say FUCK for 2 during the count? "tereee fuck something ...ansho"

(edited: this last para is about the ROPE jump and not the 180s. :-) )
could this potentially be a tourism thing in the future? where normal people can be take on 'the ultimate adrenaline rush" without having have the BASE knowledge and experience? ...just wondering. Say it, if I sound stupid/idiot wondering so :-D

Re: [3pin] Rope Jump at KJERAG
Tri, dva, odin, BASE. That's usually the count I hear from russians.

I think you could be onto something. Only problem would be it would be incredibly hard to commercialize that. Because of the scarcity of cliffs that it would be doable off of...

If you mean in general, then yeah. In our country rope jumpers already started offering commercial jumps for everybody from time to time. They even organize rope jumping trips, where they go to places like Crimea in Ukraine and they take a couple of green guys with them too. We don't have too many high objects over here, so they usually jump only a 30m bridge, but you still can have some fun. Smile

There has been a commercial rope jump in Africa and one in NZ for a long time.

Re: [Calvin19] Rope Jump at KJERAG
I was actually thinking of rope jump from specifically BASE exit points as the Russians were doing. Rope jumps from bridges and all....umm isn't that just as a bungee? heck...or are you guys talking about 'canyoning' we can do in places near Interlaken? That too is kinda rope jump but still different from bungee and certainly different from a rope-BASE.

Am wondering if the Russian crew can take ANY tourist they came across in the downtown and who was up for 'some' adrenaline rush?! that would be interesting to see it actually happen.

"Experience the freefall beside a wall without having to have a BASE experience" .... 'ANYBODY can do it' kind of thing you know.

I freaking did not get much out of that language but seeing him holding a skull and pointing to some points on his own face, I think it was quite messy.

The rope ripped and he is one of a very limited amount of humans who survived a impact from 140 meter into hard ground. He is blind now and broke many, many bones and will probably never run a marathon again but he is alive...
The bridge is a nice base jump by the way :-)

wow...that's sweet. I want to move to CO/Moab ;)

As I see, it would be the best way to practise aerials. Smile BUT, as you(?) said in the video. That's exactly my perception too. "BASE JUMPING IS SAFER". I just want to think about only one thing - the small bag on my back, when jumping 100s feet into a canyon.

aah sucks! Frown Sad!
