As far as I know from talking to Tod, only the bridle cover flap has changed

Re: [uer16] New Apex TL.
It's pretty much designed to be an ultra thin, ultra light rig and is meant to be coupled with the FLiK/FOX ultralite canopies in order to best utilize it's design.

When in through loop configuration there are two closing loops anchored to the bottom of the container that pass through channels constructed in the canopy in order to get a better "squeeze" on the canopy pack job and minimize bulk.

It can be easily reconfigured into the standard DP closing loop set up merely by changing the closing loop to the closing flaps.

My jumping buddy has one with an U/L FLiK 254 in it with no three rings and it is very thin, light, and super comfortable. It packs up to be about 1/3 the thickness of my standard DP/FLiK 266.

I know it's not the answer to your question and everybody loves their own gear, but i truly advise you to go check out the LD2 rig from adrenalinbase.com. If it's low profile your looking for the Ld2 pretty much stands out(for me). Also check out their toggles...

Re: [odeseni] New Apex TL.
And I have to truly advise you to check out APEX's new rig and the WLO's before you offer advice on rigs to jump, being that APEX is one of the two main companies that have made BASE what it is, and invented the release toggles. I don't mean to be a dick. But, what the hell, I am a dick. He asked a question about the new APEX rig, not the LD2 (and I have jumped both). There are a handful of low-pro rigs. It is not like he was asking the opinion on what computer he should buy. He could find every low-pro rig on one page of a search. Stick to answering the question at hand. BTW...I jump Morpheus in case you thought I was an APEX fan boy. I just cannot stand useless chime-ins.Unimpressed

Re: [douchekiller] New Apex TL.
I think he was talking about the change in design. I talked with Todd about the change and his answer was changed to look symmetrical but had no change in function. The way the flap is now you have two parallel lines instead of the one tucked side of old Apex design. This is also just an option they have not switched over to making all rigs this way.

Thanks a lot people, that cleared some things out, although i'm still waiting for news about the Asylum Profile, but that's another storyWink

Are you talking about line release toggles or the line release mod?

The first commercially available line release toggles I ever saw were the Gravity Sports Ltd (Dennis McGlynn) SuperToggles. They were out several years before Vertigo released the WLO's.

What news do you want? Ive got probably 100 or so jumps on mine.

Re: [hjumper33] New Apex TL.
why did you choose the profile?Whats different on the Profile compared to the TL? Do you have to have the canopy modified with "channels" as mentioned above to use the u/l canopy in the Profile?.Does the Profile have the same through loop system? can you switch back and forth between DP and TL on the Profile as on the apex tls? not many pics on the tl or profile, any to share.thanks

Re: [hjumper33] New Apex TL.
Wow, 100 already. Well, news like how much $$, where can i get one, when, what options are there, and what it's made of (cordura or parapak, cuz i prefer cordura for some unknown to me reason). And, i still don't know what's better: LD, TL, or Profile. I think i'll go with TL, but i don't like any unnecessary complications like the through-loops and holes in canopyCrazy, and packing the TL in DP mode is kind of not using it to it's full potential, which is badUnsure A big paradox here!Laugh

Re: [uer16] New Apex TL.
And just for the info, i would put a Flik UL into any of these containers.

Re: [uer16] New Apex TL.
I jump a profile with a feather 260. It has no channels in the canopy, I use the base plate closing loop for the top loop, but you can switch to a normal top loop just like the majority of low profile rigs. Its lighter than a razor for its size, parapack, but you can get panels in cordura if you really want. Rig itself is great. Same closing system as other asylum products. I dont have the fixed lower leg loops, but you can get that as an option as well. Not saying there is anything wrong with other containers, I just really like my asylum one. Ive known marty for a number or years and live 30 min from the shop, so that may influence my decision. I love my seven, and the feather is the same airfoil. Flare is better than the trango in my opinion, no experience on the flik lite.

I think the price is somewhere just below 1000 with all the options but im not sure. Pretty much on par with all the other lightweight rigs.

Re: [uer16] New Apex TL.
I have about 50 on my TL. 10 terminal.

You can get it with any and all options. The channels in the canopy has ZERO effect on performance with the canopy.

When you use the closing loops in the floor plate you place the tail pocket at the top of the container(inverting the pack job), do the S folds and then use 2 pull up cords thru the channels and close it.

It compresses the container 2/3 more.

If you want to jump it w/o the thru loops just put the closing loops back in the top/bottom flaps and close it as any other container.

Packing it with the thru loops is different and takes time. It's not a beginner rig.

Re: [seldomseen_mark] New Apex TL.
I've also noticed that, even without using the through loops, the TLs will still get you all the chicks. It's weird. Almost uncanny. Some food for thought for the would-be purchaser.

statistical analysis done by a private non-bias research company shows that you have an 83.476% chance of gett'n the chicks with a TL than any other container on the market.

Also said company showed that if you have matching colors on your canopy, container and PC you decrease your chances of an off heading opening by 98.988%, and just about eliminate the chance of a 180.

You become invincible basically.

Well... do you like soft openings? (only to do with sex, not the canopy in question).
