Rig Lost at ISC New York
If any one comes across my rig...

I sent a BJ/PerigeeII to Marty for some servicing via registered parcel post. I have the tracking number indicating it got as far as ISC New York but somewhere between the USPS and US customs it got lost. I’ve been on it now for five months including numerous phone calls & faxes to USPS, US Customs and the lost package centre in Atlanta. All completely hopeless! They just send me round in circles. I'm told that by now it has gone to charity or has been auctioned.

I thought this type of piss poor service only happened in lesser developed countries such as where I live, alas it seems its everywhere.

The BJ is all lemon with Purple centre cell & Black lines and the PII is all Black with two very thin Purple lines. It’s all custom designed; built and fine-tuned and I really hate to see it go so if you come across it please give me a shout and I’ll pay a reward.

Thanks

Try these phone numbers for ISC New York.

1-877-227-5511

or (not sure about this one.)

718-553-7392

I had a package there in limbo for sometime before I finally got someone on the phone and they found it. The horror stories about that place are legendary . . .

The rig is insured but it’s not as simple as that. To buy a replacement rig and import it into Kenya you have to obtain an importation certificate at 2.75% of goods value. Additionally the goods have to undergo off shore inspection via an approved inspection company such as SGS or Cotecna at around $150 per consignment Then when the goods arrive on Kenyan soil you have to pay Customs & Excise which is currently 25% duty and 16% import tax (compounded). Then there is the freight, clearing and forwarding costs.

It's a lot of time, money and effort

Hey John

Sorry for your loss buddy Unsure Thats a shit one.

If you do end up having to replace the rig, and you foresee yourself coming to SA some time, then you are more than welcome to have any new orders sent to my place and I will hold them for you until you arrive. That should help with the costs a bit. I'm sure we could find someone who travels between Kenya and SA and would be willing to help bring it across for you.

Hope you find your rig mate.
