So uh...what happened?

Re: [gauleyguide] This was a bad idea
breaking ankles is always a bad idea.

Re: [gauleyguide] This was a bad idea
That looks like fun but unless you tell us how it happened then it is not much use apart from making me cringe

Re: [gauleyguide] This was a bad idea
BASE aint the only place where people get hurt you know. Imagine if driving schools had a mandatory gore class. I guess they don't think that it does the students any good in becoming good drivers.

There's a reason why you posted this in the beginners forum and not in incidents, I take it.

Re: [sebcat] This was a bad idea
Let me say this. BASE accident, yes. Discuss in incident forum, no, not now, can't do it. I posted this here because I thought this might be a little more inspiring than.....' be careful '.

They do.
If you want to drive with a friend or familymember you need to have a extra class where you have to watch that crashvideo with Evanescence music in the background.
So, pretty much everyone that takes a driverslicens today has seen that crashvideo here in Sweden.

Found it

Blood & accident footage has been used in the US for decades, especially to ward off teen drunk driving.

I stand corrected.

some schools even have "crashed" cars in front of the school. student actors with "injuries." real paramedics. real ambulances.

it makes for a great news story on TV.
I'm not saying it works...

Re: [wwarped] This was a bad idea
It dosent. People still do stupid shit no matter what gore you show them.

Re: [gauleyguide] This was a bad idea
This was me after a bad idea in Texas one night long ago.

(edited to make this "clicky")

It has been over ten years, still hurts.
Substantial soft tissue damage is very painful.
I was lucky, the only broken bone was the Navicular.

Fortunately the BAMC was just a few miles away,
and ironically a couple Golden Knights were on duty.
They saved my foot with two screws and 200+ stitches.

Re: [badenhop] This was a bad idea
weren't you at a tattoo convention then? man, serious injuries suck so so so much!
Shortcut
Re: [sebcat] This was a bad idea
Beavis and Butthead used to laugh during the driver's ed gore films.

Re: [460] tattoo convention
well i was planning to attend the convention
the night we arrived i decided to jump
the convention center building
detour to hospital asap
did not make the
convention
boo

went to the local downtown emergency room
they looked down at my foot and told me
"we'll have to complete the amputation"
fortunately one of attendants said
"or the BAMC might take you"
ARMY DOCTORS ROCK!

i cannot imagine what life would be like minus a foot

In reply to:

probably
exactly
like it would be,
with two feet
just
minus one.

Wow, glad you kept said foot. But im not gonna lie im TRULY surprised that they took it. Ive taken ALOT of transfers out of places like that to other hospitals because the procedure needed was to complex (like anything above simple stapling. From what ive seen they avoid actually stitching someone up like the plague)
