Hey:

I'm a skydiver/caver(rappeller) that rappels bridge day every year. On the bus up to the top this year, I met a guy named Chad who inquired about a plaque that was sent to a mate of mine (Tiny) that was be set up at the bottom of Golondrinas back in 2004. I stated that the plaque was up (i rappel it every year, will be back this december), and in great conditions. Most cavers that go down, light a candle, there is a guest register down there, and the plaque is placed in a spot that on a rock at a spot that isn't covered with Bat Guano. Attached are pictures of the plaque when it was installed. It still looks fantastic, and I wanted to let you all know that the logbook is signed by many and we always light a candle for him at the bottom.

I swear, I'm going to BASE bridge day someday, but until then...

I have thought about Dave a lot over the years.
I didn't know him, really. I met him the night before when we all arrived at Mexico City for our trip to the Cave. This was to be my first BASE trip to the Cave so I figured with all the time we were to spend there I would get to know everyone better. However, that wasn't to be.
I was #2 into the cave and Dave was #4. I was there at the bottom with Dave throughout. It was my only trip to Golondrinas and I will probably never go back. I hope his friends and family find some solace in knowing that we did everything we could for Dave. We also did our best to make his ride out as dignified as the circumstances would allow. Rest in peace man.

Thank you for posting the memorial plaque pictures. We are approaching the 7th anniversary of his accident and think of Dave often. We appreciate the stories shared by his friends. He was an amazing guy and sadly missed. Mark
