Base Jumping off a Ski Flying jump..MI.?? Is it possible?
Hello
I am not a base jumper but I am curious to find out if someone has considered this base jump. The Ski flying structure is located in the mid west. I believe the top of the jump is 176 feet above the top of the hill. There is an elevator that takes sight seers to the top or it can easily be climbed when tourist season is over.
Is this jump possible? And if anyone is interested I would love to meet you and watch or film the jump.
Thank you
P.J.

Don't be so bloody impatient. Thousands of people read these forums including a whole bunch of non-jumpers. Chances are that your 182 people who read your post do not actually jump. you have to wait at least 48 hours for an answer.

But I wouldn't bother waiting if I were you. You've burnt any chance of people being polite and answering your question in a nice manner.

good day sir

Very possible, so possible a newbie like yourself would have no problems doing it. I am down. You and me. You go first so I can film and then take the elevator down.

You game?

Re: [pfontec] Base Jumping off a Ski Flying jump..MI.?? Is it possible?
interesting questions.
but the folks who replied probably gave you all the info you needed to know.

i just thought that being one of the people who has little 'tact', and less social skills to go on top of that -sure the 'society' blames it on the fact that I am autistic and think very differently then the typical person....

but reality is, that i must live in this world where autistics are not the 'norm' for thinking patterns,
so i get my share 'dissing' for the way i try to explain things that usually ends up backwards of what happened,
or jumbled together with some other situation,
or worse just ramble on and end up bringing the topic down a winding road to some different destination then originally intended.

but seeing as your new here, i suppose it is best to read tons, and read the rules about the forum and other things, (many which I myself have not done-so im not blaming you for not doing them-just trying to share from experience that in a community like this one,
the folks who would know your reply may be more likely to send you a private message.

Also i noticed that your post is on or just after a weekend.

Many jumpers are skydivers (still at least but certainly were before jumping)
meaning that often they wont be available to really think and read about the issues you pose, until their weekend work, activities are done, work week begins and they have finally some chance to sit around a bit and take things in.

The fact that the folks are willing to help answer questions to new folks in itself is remarkable.
as the community is very different then going to drop zone or other skydiving places.

so having said that, i hope you continue to read lots, and give yourself some time to see whats going on around these sites.

i understand your desire to get a reply fast
as well as get replies to specific places.

if you want to discuss a specific location,
i would personally start with asking in private message some of the moderators, as they all clearly are helping to keep this site up and will be confidential about their replies to you.
this way those who just come here to read, (and yes surely there are police officers looking for some 'fore warning' of something going to happen, if folks were to write about those things.

take care, and hope you get answers to your questions by reading lots, while you skydiving to gain canopy skills and perhaps after a while of doing both you may wish to introduce yourself a little -again normal forum rules-don't tell us your name, location, any easily identifiable info.

just the things you want to share about your background, or questions of a general nature.
nothing specific.

im not telling you anything that really was not offered in the previous posts,

and i only wish that if i take the time to write this stuff down a little longer and encourage you to keep on reading and learning that way FIRST then private messing to those whom you will get to know on he forums as trustworthy to know what is going on,
may come forward and start to engage with you.

take care, remain well,

you do understand you are offering to film someone jumping off of an object where the owners might appreciate it.

who are you?
why should jumpers trust you?
have you earned any level of trust?

personally, I avoid taking non-jumpers with me.

it's been done before. pretty sure it was done with permission back when CP was still being used. Some friends have told me about watching people jump it while they were there competing.

Thanks Cutter...I will have to talk to some old timers around here and see if they saw the jumps. Maybe CP has some pics or videos too.

I just learned a lesson in that at the bridgr over labor day. I took two non jumping friends because i wanted to split the cost of gas, hotel, and cause we wanted to get out of town to party. They were bored out of their minds while i was jumping, and after the second day morale was so low with them i had to cut out a day early. Ill never involve non jumpers in base again , unless they are grond crewing.
