Troll 285 MDV 5th control line removal.
From the outer line on the far outside of the canopy I will call that line 1. The rest will be 2, 3, 4, and 5 going inward. The 1, 2, and 3 lines are triple cascaded with the more solitary and longer line being number 2. I would have liked to remove the 5 line. It looks like I will need all new uppers to get this to work. Anyone have the factory length for the upper control lines on a 285? Do the line attachments stay the same?

Thanks!

Perhaps there are different setups or you have a non-standard setup for some reason, but my understanding is the removal of the 5th line is as simple as just cutting off the appropriate line.

But rather than debating it on here just email Stane from Atair (email address can be found here: http://www.basetroll.com/about_us.html ) he'll be delighted to help. Probably a good idea to include the serial number of the canopy in your email.

Stane himself removed line number 4 from my 2006 Troll 245. It was triple cascaded with 3 and 5, though (actually, 3 and 5 were cascaded together just above the loop and 4 into 3 a little higher). Line attachments were on each rib going from the stabilizer to the one between cells 2 and 3; the line that was removed attached to the non-load-bearing rib of cell 2.

I would also suggest you contact him if your canopy has a different setup.

I own 2 Troll-285 MDV's and both of them
only have 4 brake lines, which I like...

This is how they came from Morpheus/Atair.
There is no place on the tail where there is
an empty line attachment point.

I am unpacked so if you still need me to
measure something or take a specific photo
for reference let me know.

It looks like there is an empty attachment next to the inner most line. Which looks like what the poster above describes.

Line Attachment Point
Sorry, I did not explain it correctly, I meant there
was NOT gray binding material folded and sewed
into a loop where a line would be larks headed.
