Locks
Anyone have any advice for getting around or into "Best" locks? I've got the codes stamped on the lock.

Thanks

Re: [FreeFallFiend] Locks
The codes are not anything you can cut keys with.

The BEST locks are often interchangeable cores, meaning with a super-dooper master key you can actually pull out the entire core and rekey the lock in about 30 seconds.

The codes are just grandmaster/master/change key references. Like AA1 or GM1. They are so the user can see what core is in the lock. An "AA1" core OFTEN, but not always would be opened by keys marked "AA1", "AA", and maybe "GM" if there is a grand master. The AA1 key is something custom for that site... So you would have to break into the computer database to learn that AA1 = what... Normally manufactures have multiple levels of databases, so a site address is kept by one person, and a site code is kept by another. So one person knows what keys to make, the other person knows where those keys work, thus it would take two to tango....

Sorry.

How to get into or around a lock. Well, I am not gonna post on the internet how to break into a lock you don't have access to normally. Tongue

Buy another lock that looks just like it, cut the other one off and replace it.

BEST locks are serious stuff, usually 6 or 7 pin and sometimes a tricky keyway.. there are a couple methods in locksport but none are amateur or novice level.

Is impressioning those locks difficult?

Impressioning is difficult always, and usually moreso in the BASE environment.
