Three Decades & Still Flickin'!
Here is a little BASE-history tidbit for your entertainment. It was exactly thirty years ago that a number of skydivers made their first-ever BASE jump. That was the famous (or infamous) 'Summer of El Cap' in Yosemite, the one-&-only time that BASE jumping was permitted in the National Park. Where are all of those 1st-time BASE jumpers today?
I was one of the lucky ones then; I made my first-ever BASE jump on August 25, 1980, jumping El Cap with my regular skydiving rig. WOW!

But the most important point is this: I'm still one of the very lucky ones. Its now THIRTY YEARS GONE and I'm still BASE jumping! I commemorated my anniversary with a trip to the Potato Bridge August 25, 2010 and I celebrated with a 1/2 dozen BASE jumps. (Its still WOW, yaknow!)

I wonder if there are any other really old, 'old farts' out there, anyone else who started in 1980 (or before) and who is still BASE jumping. I would love to hear from anyone who started "back in the day."
Blue Skies,
Jerry
P.S. Let's see... What to plan for the 40-year anniversary?
