Dude, you realize censorship has to do with peoples opinions. People are free to post their opinions as long as it doesn't go against the rules... I know, I know... RULES, LET'S BREAK EM!

As I stated in my email to you, it has nothing to do with censorship. It's the same regular action all online forums with any decent structure have. This isn't an anonymous message board.

The first one was removed because the exact same thing occurred right after Gerald was banned, and the only thing threads like that do is cause shit by instigating. And the twisting here would be your idea that the first thread was just opinion. It was griping at the ban of Gerald, putting it in poll form doesn't make it different to a "Let Gerald back, he shouldn't have been banned".

If there is a problem or issue someone wants to address there are private messages. I would be glad to explain all the details- as I did via email.

Why do people seem to think that online forums represent real life, because really- they don't.

Yes, I'm passionate about punk and well aware of resistance and rebellion. And I don't believe in being shoved around by those in charge.

But #1 - This is an online forum owned by somebody (as most forums are), when I want to stand up for something I do it in the real world where stuff matters.

#2. This is my job. I get to eat because I am entrusted to take care of a forum, enforce the rules, follow the chain of command and be hated by users in the process. Hate me for doing my job, I really couldn't care less- Someone has to do it.

The actions by moderators have been nothing but fair and along the guidelines for the forum. As it states in the policies "Membership to the forum is a privilege not a right".

And just to be clear, the day Gerald was banned, there were over 10 posts with no more than 1 word on them for the first 2 pages. Any forum moderator would need to be completely retarded to let that fly on a forum they`re entrusted to keep neat.

 

Think about your logic here.

I work at a Catholic school. I keep the network and computer systems in running order day in and day out. Apparently the education the students receive at that school is top notch. They entry to college after graduation is 100 percent . (seriously, I didn't believe it either)


I'm not catholic or even religious for that matter. I don't believe in Catholicism nor do I agree with the administration and their views regarding money.

I eat, dress, sleep under a roof in a nice bed, have toys I like to use and pay my bills all because I do believe in keeping *my* network, servers, and user computers in good running order.

I'll still jump with you anytime anywhere but I can not agree with everything you say.

It is one of many sites I am trusted to maintain, through forums, administration and content. It's a very small part of my job, but a part none the less.

And calling the banning of Gerald injustice, is just pathetic. As is your analogy.

You were the one who was complaining about signal to noise ratio. And then we remove the source of 80% of the sites noise, and you whine about that too...

Or maybe people stopped posting here because of all the people who would rather cry about a just and fair banning instead of creating quality threads.

No one is forcing you to visit the site. It's quite simple, if you're willing to follow the rules (which are really slack anyway) you will be fine. If you're looking for forum anarchy where you can do and say what you want, even if it's 20 pages of spam, then you're not going to find it here.

If a thread is of value it will stay, if it's one word replies filling a page it will not. So stop whining about noise and then whining about when most of it is taken away.

The most 'infinitely lame' thing though, is people who get all uptight and whiny about another users banning on a forum when he couldn't follow the rules. And if anything, all the little internet-rebels are only making the situation worse. How about you go rebel to something that matters and not with your hands attached to keyboards.

I just read the rest of this thread too and really wonder why in the world this one person crusade exists? It's quite nonsense.

Epi, the world according to you suits you but I also don't believe you are 100% in compliance with beliefs held by you, or your employers or friends. I was not able to keep my favorite job. The owner simply could not perform properly as a businessman. It's unfortunate but true. I moved on. 11 years later, I'm doing something I wasn't planning on but it fell in my lap and it's pretty good for now.

What I believe in. Staying alive. Doing my part to keep a network that has been entrusted to me, up and running 24/7. Many teachers here are teachers through and through. They're not Catholic but abide by simple rules that have been written out in a laymans agreement. (Laypersons... whatever).

Parents of students may or may not adhere to Catholicism but I guarantee it's FAR better to send them here, than to the pubic schools in Vallejo CA. Many parents are given the opportunity to provide their child with a much safer and better educational environment. You choose. Public schools in ghetto gang town or here. Or just move the entire family to a perfect area where all beliefs may be adhered to or forced.... sounds like a cult.

I learn more about technology daily. This job is likely a stepping stone like many other jobs people have.

Being a BASE jumper does not qualify anyone to participate on any forum.
