Re: [pgpilot] New V-Prototype spotted?
Hello Mattt,
Nice to meet you, even if it is online

. So, you take my post as a slur. It was not intended to be a slur but it was intended to provoke a reaction. Some good will come of this.
In reply to:
First of all, you don't even wingsuit BASE jump any more, do you? Aren't you that Indian guy who forgot his chest strap and almost died in Norway? And then got barred from Phoenix Fly because you complained so much about your suit? Is this pro PF / anti Tony slur campaign of yours meant to get yourself back into Robi's favor? That would make sense, but it's a little sad in technique, don't you think?
The 'bashing' is only in your head. Nice, let's bash me because you have no rational things to say.
Yes, I am the Indian guy that jumped without a chest strap in 2007. I didn't even come close to dying, though

. It only showed me my imperfections. I
knew before going on that trip that it was a waste of time. If I was perfect, I would have stopped jumping
before the trip, gone to a beach instead and kept quiet and been in the good books of all the cool folks

. So I hung up the BASE rig and waited for the next version of the suit.
Anyway in the time that I waited after I was banned, I purchased an S8, an S-fly pro-fly and paid a manufacturer(in early 2009) for a custom suit that I never received. Have you seen any online complaints about that?
I never really gave up on the dream of flying just didn't have the suit to do it with. It is just common sense, really.
http://www.basejumper.com/...;page=unread#2928718 Above is a link to a recent thread. Does it sound to you like I am trying to get back in good with Robi? While I can see that Robi is a nice guy, my purchasing his products is
not contingent upon saying good things about his products. Same goes to Tony but since you got me banned
You are right about my
complaining tone in the V2 years, that completely obscured my message.
Below is a post I made in one of Tony suits threads on DZ.com after my return from the Norway trip.

In reply to:
The V2 itself can be improved a lot by making the armwing inflation more consistent.
The reaction I got from the PF camp for saying the above was no different from your post above. What do we see today? The most popular suits(in market share, namely Tony Suits and Phoenix-Fly) in the market today have solid inflation.
On the flip side, from the same post...
In reply to:
Any suits that will perform well in the BASE environment will look like the V2 Planform.
At the time that post was made, it made perfect sense. A better manufacturer neutral way of putting it would have been. All suits designed for optimal glide will have a head low balance.
I hate it when what I predict turns out to be true

.
My mom thinks that I am the nicest, most beautiful thing the whole wide world! The reality is a
little bit different. That is a common human emotion. Just like the emotion a wingsuit designer/manufacturer has for his baby.
In reply to:
X-Bird: It is a hybrid design. The balance is sort of optimized for glide but the wing thickness is optimized for slow flight. This results in a suit that is not the best it can be at either task.
Read that again. If you got bash from that then maybe you need to go make a jump or something. I'll bet you a $1000 that in a few years Tony suits arm wings will be thinner. Care to put your money where your mouth is?
Have you flown an S or X-Bird with thinner arm wings? Can you categorically say that it makes for a worse flying suit?
I flew a V2 with 10" wings in that 2007 Norway trip. I can categorically tell you it flies worse than a regular V2. If we take away the brand specific info from that what can we conclude?
You know what will happen a few suit generations from now? Every suit made for the same purpose(glide or slow flight) from every manufacturer will look the same in every way because we have already run out of how big we can make the suits.
P.S: I received your book yesterday. There are a few things I would have nit picked with you (like why cold steel does not get mentioned in the section about glide and a few technical bits and bobs) if we ever met (guess that won't happen

) but on the whole the book has more pros than cons.
About my BASE/WS experience I have around 500 WS jumps total and 40ish WS BASE jumps. When I flew back from Smellveggan in 2006 in a phantom1 (pic attached) it was kind of like your 'High nose to Jungfrau' video. AFAIK no one had done that in 2006 either. That was my 15th or 16th WS BASE jump. You know what, mate? You ain't gonna do much better than that in a similar sized suit and rig and flying the same line today! With all your bazillion jumps

.
