Keep changing my mind about wanting to/not wanting to
So maybe thats a sign that I shouldn't. I just went through another cycle of wanting to/not wanting to. I had my self all psyched up to take a fbjc but then I watch videos of base jumps that didn't go exactly as planned and started to freak myself out too much.
This cycle has been a never ending loop for 5 years now. I guess this post is pointless...maybe someday I'll actually do it.

Don't sweet it. Some day you will be ready to do it and if at that point you still wish to do it you will nolonger feel conflicted.

The word 'someday' single handedly destroys more dreams than any other word.

If you want to do it, grab your nuts, and go do it.

^True that.

If you want to see an example, go on any BASE video on YouTube and look at the amount of "I will do this someday." comments.

Exactly my thoughts. Most of them aren't even "I will", but more like "I'd like to". Fuck that.

I'd rather die in one of those tragic accidents you are filling your mind with than be old and full of regrets posting comments on youtube saying "ah, wish I would have done that."

Let me tell you my story. I went through about 3,4, or 5 yrs of saying I want to do that. I have worked BD since 96. Either on the river, hooking up people on the zip line or the rappell. As a poor river guide I didn't have access to the web, unlike now sitting in my truck 150 miles from home. I didn't get to see all the YouTube videos. My only exposer to BASE was BD. I didn't even know skydiving was just 45 min away. So one BD I went to the holiday inn to find out a bit more about this dark and scary thing called 'BASE'. When I walked in the front doors I came upon a row of girls lined up having a 'see who can get spanked the hardest contest'. Right then and there I knew BASE was for me.

So you see, deciding whether or not you want to jump, doesn't mean you have to jump right away.

i was the same way. I signed up and unsigned up for the FBJC course twice. Then, when I was ready I did it. Actually I did 20 in my first 2 weeks. I am very, very conservative in BASE. I climb down far more objects than I jump but I still jump. When you're ready you'll know... STAY STOKED!!

BASE is like a tattoo on your face. You want to be fully committed before you get started. If that hasn't happened yet, then waiting till you are is probably a good idea. You will be judged for it, some people will think it's cool, other people will question your decision making. It has to be for sure what you want.
