Tracking Question
In reply to:
With a decent track and delay should anyone even be close enough for a cliff strike?

This quote is taken from a discussion in the incidents forum.

All the tracking I've been able to practice has been from antennas, generally with a nice tail wind. How does that correlate/translate to tracking from a cliff?

You Can cut it pretty close if you take it Down shitty low and deep close to Talus or Buttress to opening . better be on-it then.

Depends what they cliff's like (how long's a piece of string). The exit can be a big, flat, solid rock ledge so you can get a run up from and not worry about your footing when you launch or a manky, sloping, uneven pile of loose dirt and grass with only a small boulder to go off or something in between.

You might also have bulges and overhangs that dictate decision points or the ideal place where you want to be opening.

The lack of a clean tail wind when you're open is a clear difference and always a bonus, but if you're counting on that to save you, maybe you should reassess.

I guess that was the point of my question in the first place. Thanks. Cool

Re: [78RATS] Tracking Question
Tracking is tracking. Pushing off an object then tracking takes a bit of practice but you still need mad tracking skills. You're a competitive skydiver so I imagine you have that down fairly well. Jumping from big As 'swill do wonders for your exiting into a track skills, assuming you try to get far away from it.

Have fun.

Re: [hookitt] Tracking Question
it just seems like the more forward speed you get upon exit, paired with a slightly steeper exit (not head low but a bit steeper than box position) puts you into a track quicker and more effectively???
this is just based upon the millions of videos and dvd's ive watched, not any type of experience. is this accurate?
