Doing An assignment On Base Jumping and I Need Your Help!

Hi i am Nick, I am 14 and from New Zealand. I go to Nelson College. It wasn't long ago I got interested in base jumping after reading a book about extreme sports. With a homework assignment my class have been given to find a Quest and create a seminar about it to present to our class, I thought I should do mine on the quest to get a base jumping number.

Problem is I need primary information on this sport and I was hoping you could help me there. If you wouldn't mind could you answer these or just some of these questions I have.

* What is a base jumping number?
* How can someone get into base jumping?
* Why is it an extreme sport?
* What equipment is needed?
* Why do you do it?

several of those questions can be answered by reading pieces in the "Articles" portion of this website. read up a bit.

(most people tire of answering the same questions over and over!)

First you would have to define "extreme" and do not
even think about mentioning some canned beverage.
Would alligator wrestling be extreme? Shark fu(king?

Question 4: At minimum a parachute, for more see

notice things like boots, pads, helmets, etc.

Nelson College is a boys-only state secondary school in Nelson, New Zealand. It teaches from years 9 to 13.

Nothing more than just a number, I have one and I never even think about it really.
* How can someone get into base jumping?
After skydiving enough times, you should know when your ready, and lots and lots of continuing education, courses, and mentoring.
* Why is it an extreme sport?
Its not, its what the media has ordained it as.
* What equipment is needed?
A single parachute system, designed especially for BASE.
* Why do you do it?
Its personal and none of your business.

jump one of each object: building, antenna, span, earth and you can apply for a BASE number.

it means alot to some, to others...not so much.
