Basejumper hing fünf Stunden in Felswand

(Air-Glaciers)

Basejumper hung five hours in cliff
Antonio Fumagalli - giant fortune for a base jumpers: because his parachute did not open properly, it bounced off the cliff. Miraculously he was unharmed.

The parachute (arrow) was left hanging in the cliff. (Air-Glaciers)
An adrenaline rush of unwanted species had on Saturday a 26-year-old base jumpers from the Canton Valais, after a few seconds of free fall opened his parachute as planned - it bounced off the cliff, and remained about 300 meters below the hang-off spot. The man was incredibly lucky. He could not control the screen is so good that he was not with full force in the rock slammed, "says Patrick Torrent, paramedic with Air-Glaciers.

The big test of nerves for the base jumpers began but only: "Because he was directly under a rock, could we possibly save him by helicopter. We decided, therefore, are descending from above ", so Torrent. For the injured persons, this meant a lot of waiting time, especially since he could not move. "His life hung by a piece of cloth. When the screen would have solved, he would be "thrown over 100 meters in depth, said Torrent. After five hours the rescuers could free him finally from his predicament - injured. Still, the recovery would have taken considerably longer if the operator of a power station adjacent waterfall had not ceased.

Less fortunate was a second base jumpers, which crashed not far from the first accident with a wing suit in the depths. He crashed at high speed on the floor and suffered multiple fractures.

Re: [mwl88] non fatal accident 01.08.2010 Wallis
? . so there was 2 incidents ? or just one single wall strike and hang-up.

" Less fortunate was a second base jumpers, which crashed not far from the first accident with a wing suit in the depths. He crashed at high speed on the floor and suffered multiple fractures."

If not the The small couple sentences @ the end of the news clip are a little misleading & made reference to a secondary WS low deployment into Trees, also with injuries ?
