I once saw a video of a guy jumping a Mast Radiator Antenna... He had to hop onto it from an upside down bucket because they are live. Does anyone know anything about these? Are they all good to climb onto as long as you dont earth yourself out??

That's an AM (presumably live) tower.

notice the insulators on the guy wires, and the shitty wooden fence You'll also notice the insulator at the base of the tower as well as weird looking ring within a ring system that's used to ground it in case of a lightning strike.

The general recommendation is to stay away from those. But if you are extremely extreme, like the current generation of new jumpers, then please don't listen to that advice.

So stay away because of the electrocution risks only? radiation as well?

I'm sure I sound like a dick to some, but if you can't put in a little effort to ensure your own personal safety, why should anyone else? if you can't do a search for info, how will you get answers to more serious information? the answer to your question is really low hanging fruit, easy to find, easy to pick.

and a good place to start developing your research skills. you might learn a bunch above and beyond the answer to the immediate question.

this sport has particularly harsh realities. those that wish to avoid them study, search, read, test, think, and learn. they don't simply post questions that have been answered on a regular basis. or that should be answered in a FJC. or by a mentor. or by a face to face conversation with a jumper. good jumpers-to-be put in effort.

yep, I was blunt and may have seemed rude. if you can't handle it, then you aren't ready for broken bones or a near death experience.

for years, top skydiving teams like Airspeed have concerned themselves with their "arousal level." the idea is that a certain level of adrenalin aids performance, but too much degrades it.

newbies come here all the time, pumped and excited. they are surging on adrenalin. then, if they don't get instant gratification, they crash off their high, unable to maintain it. but that adrenalin buzz also blocks information from getting through. it blinds people to risks.

for example, vid666 pointed out that it was an AM tower. somehow you missed it.

decisions based mostly on raw emotion get people killed in BASE.

it's so much better to sort it out now, than on the edge!

 

incidentally, searching the term 'stupid' returns 73 pages of posts.

I wonder what the DCR (dog cooking radius) is on this tower
