Re: [434] July 2010
So this is 5 total . This is the short-time record & it was done in less the a 30 day calendar period . All were pilot error ? . Anything these jumps have in common other that it is just, 'prime time' season of the year to get out and hit it hard, good weather, travel & jump ?
Nothing out the ordinary ? . So maybe the biggest thing that is popping-out @ me is with this, is that everyone should take a step back and take a good look at there game plan on jump day and also there exit foreplay before they jump ?

Re: [RayLosli] July 2010
I believe that makes July 2010 the deadliest month in BASE history.

Edit: Sorry I originally corrected you and said six but one was not a fatality.

Re: [434] July 2010
Also, 3 footlaunch speed flying fatalities in as many months. crappy year, this 2010.

Re: [Calvin19] July 2010
I think we're going to see a lot more of those now that speed flying is the newest cool way to dash yourself against uncomfortable things.

But it is pretty damn cool.

But not people dying. That usually sucks -- a lot.

Throw the Youtube - look at me - generation into the mix and watch the numbers explode...

Re: [Rover] July 2010
Well we thought that when the MTV generation hits the air, and also with the "1. BASE generation. We are still improving, but some few kicks back to remind the jumpers, the planet is not made of rubber.

The peak of newcomers will end one day, and statistic will finely flat out.

But who knows, this is BASE

it's even easier than BASE for the muppet skydivers to 'just go try it' with their skydive parachutes. (that is how 2 of those people died)

Re: [Calvin19] July 2010
Agreed, but let's not forget muppet face humpers as well.

Re: [elduderino] July 2010
I guess it is time to shake up the base community so they pay attention, and have some respect again for what they are doing! It is not over yet. Maybe we will hit 20 this year.

Know Your Limits is all I can say.

don't forget the 2 rescues in Seattle/Vancouver area. they could have easily made The List.

it sounds like many were not really prepared, but it is hard to tell.

Re: [wwarped] July 2010
I have two reports of rescues in Swiss close to the French border as well.

I would be nice to know the experience (BASE/Skydiving/and any other relevant flying discipline) of the diseased. With so much new meat getting in the sport, I wonder how much of the incidents are happening due to the lack of skill, and not only bad luck ....

July 2010 - & Later Months Worser?
If you look loosely at:
http://www.blincmagazine.com/.../Fatality_Statistics

Sept, Oct, Nov are trending as bigger months for fatalities.

Frown

Hopefully this year proves that wrong?

Will it? It's up to you.
