I never liked Transformers but its going to be interesting to see some base jumping in cinema What do you guys think, good or bad for the sport? Or it just doesn't make a difference?

Its just terrible for the sport. These maniacs just completely burned the hell out of a beautiful jumpable city. All this is doing is bringing negative attention towards the sport I love so much. For one thing, wingsuits and BASE jumping dont mix. If you want to be true to our sport, "OG" if you will, its all about the freefall. Leave the squirrels at the dropzones.
BASE and Hollywood is sure to publicize our sport to the point where every kid who watches TF3 is going to want to BASE jump. Police and security will be on alert for urban jumpers and sites that were once mellow will catch fire.
In my opinion, this is just like the Red Bull guys trying to be all cool by jumping around the country and burning every city they stop at to the ground. Our underground sport is being ruined by these showboaters. Youll never see me on Youtube or in any extreme sports videos. Thats because I choose to remain under the radar and jump by the light of the moon, the way it should be done. Shame on these guys.

Hey SLAMBO! Man do you really thing that attention to our sport is a negative thing? I do agree that any time a person does a jump, gets caught, gets hurt or is seen and is doing an illegal jump it is negative. However when someone does a jump like this and its put in a movie or is legal and done to be viewed by the public it really isn't that bad. Do you think that jumps off the KL tower are bad for the sport or that all the cities are burnt because of jumps off of the Petronas? I think your just mad they got the chance to do it, do it legal, and do it first. I think the more the sport is in the media like this and shown to be done right and uneventfully the less people will look at us as out laws and hoodlums. As far as I know it was the Red Bull guys who did it. I cant be sure because I didn't hear it from them particularly but I heard if from a relative of one of them. Anyway I think its F'n awesome and I hope every kid wants to get into skydiving and eventually BASE. Unless of course they are one of those people that need the bowling talk.

My opinion: GREAT stuff and good for the sport !

Navy, do you know how much influence these "hero" movies have on the adolesence of today? Think of the influence that drug usage in movies has on kids! They watch a homeless Hobo light up some tin foil, next thing you know we have a crack epidemic. It relates to our sport in the same way. Its unfortunate that such a unique and beautiful sport is being whored out by attention seeking media junkies hungry for money and fame. Sounds like Hollywood to me.

I can't agree more with Mr. Slambo here. This can't be good for BASE. Those suits not only make them look like squirrels, they make them look gay. Imagine what will happen to all those kids watching these gay man flying in tight formation they call a "4-way"?! Will they march on San Francisco parade a few years later wearing thongs? If not, they'll be on Amsterdam parade.

The Sears Tower is 1400+ feet tall. Are these flights through and around buildings launched from the building, or from a copter/plane flying nearby? There is footage of both types of launches in the trailer.
