Looking to take an FJC in September.......

Need advise on which to sign up with. Asylum, APEX, Johnny Utah/Abbie Mashal (Johnny is not doing any more until next year so he has recomended Abbie for this fall).

Yes i have read all the other posts and articles and no none of them contain enough information for me to choose.

Please only respond if you have been lucky enough to attend more than one of these courses or have discussed pros and cons between your course and one of a fellow base jumpers. Your input is really appreciated.

Why not go with Johnny's advice?

Re: [Asgard] FJC***
In my area there has been a recent influx of new base jumpers. I took Johnny Utah's course and the rest took Apex's.
After talking to the people that took Apex's I'm very happy that I took Johnny Utah's course.

In Johnny's course I got one full day of theory and pool "exit" training, followed by 5 days of jumping. I got 18 jumps in total in the FJC. My friends got 5 jumps in their FJC.

In my opinion I felt way way better with my 16th, 17th, 18th exit than I did with my 3rd, 4th and 5th exit. I was still scared sh*tless at jump 5 that I wasn't taking everything in. But by the 15th I was feeling really comfortable and taking in what was happening with each jump.

Johnny is (in my opinion) a standup guy. I liked his teaching approach. He gave answers in the form of what he would do and I liked that. If you can I'd take his course for sure. And if I couldn't take his I'd be taking Abbie's.

I've delt with Abbie, and he's a great guy. not too sure how long his course is though. I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

That's just my opinion. I could be wrong but I'm not.

what sort of information do you seek?
can you define "enough information?"

remember, BASE is not about rules, it is about judgment. I expect this is your first chance to develop it. if you have trouble deciding which course to take, I'd suggest taking none of them. take a rigging course instead and skydive more. if you are better prepared, your best choice should be more clear.

I'd also suggest you offer more information about yourself. I see your profile is empty. have you talked to BASE jumpers at your home dz? what do they suggest? (they know you far better than anonymous respondents.)

if you want to ignore that bit, then I'd suggest simply talking to the instructors. see which one suits your style. communication is the key to teaching. if you and your instructor aren't on the same wavelength, it will be difficult to get the most from the course.

Morpheus with Baxter doing the course is worth looking at too.
