For those who have children...
So I have never been to a bridge day before. The past two years that I have tried to go I wasn't able to because I was either deployed or in training somewhere. Now that I'm out of the military and Uncle Sam can't tell me what to do anymore I've been really pumped about this year. I already have about 100 base jumps, but I've just never been to to bridge day and want to go see the sights and sounds, meet some of you folks, and jump off the bridge.

The only problem is my wife is pregnant and due about two weeks before BDay. I'm wondering for those of you that have children

1.) can babies that young travel cross country or
2.) would it be an unreasonable idea for me to leave the wife and baby with friends and family and go to Bridge Day without them

of course if I were to go I'd be carpooling with some local friends, and I understand it might be a selfish desire to go this year with a baby that young... I'm just wondering if anybody who already has kids can give me a little perspective as to whether or not it would be unreasonable for me to go.

I guess I may be kind of fishing for the answer that I wanna hear... but if that would be an asshole thing for me to do, please say it.

The only correct answer is the one your wife will accept. Also remember that you can always wait until next year and not go, on the child's birthday celebration, and the year after, and the year after etc. for the next 18 Bridge Days. Which means you should support BASE428 in his efforts to open the NRGB fulltime.
Take care,

dont go man. family is so much more important, and base isnt going anywhere..

your wife will really need you around for the first year, especially the first month or so..

I know you already decided, but I wanted to say you made a good choice to sit this one out. Family should always come first.
