Re: [sinjin] Base Jumper heli rescued in Norway after 180 and strike
My observation as an witnes to the cliffstrike: Jumper had not the experience or right equipment to jump this cliff. Lack of information shared inside the group none, I did not see any radios, not possible to get in contact with the cliffstriker, and jumpers continue to jump with a man in the wall! Most of them did not know him, so they just left the location before he was rescued down.
The rescue operation in Norway is free, so do not be afraid to make contact or call rescue. This jumper trow his gear down, and tried to climb down, because he was afraid of the bill. He got stuck on a small shelf, and could easy died trying.
"Always jump with a radio (Motorola USA coding) and get yourself a Norwegian sim card for your phone. It makes it easier to keep in contact with the locals or the emergency team if necessary. Fully charged batteries are always important, since a rescue can take time. Most of the walls have loose rocks, and a rescue operation can take time to plan. If you get stuck, try to collect your gear, sit still, and wait for contact with the locals, or rescue team. Always leave your personal information and phone number with someone."
Some guidelines for Romsdalen
