Given the Website is completely out of date and the staff is not accurate, I'd have to say, probably not.

If you're looking for instruction, there are plenty of people willing to teach, including a few of the twin falls locals.

Uhmm, Tom still runs courses - next one is in September - it is a 4 day course.
Not sure about his 7 day death camp.
Email him and ask.

I spent the last two weeks at my house in Twin Falls teaching. I've pretty much converted the place into just a BASE school at this point.

I have definitely been off these forums for a while--that doesn't mean I've closed things down. I apologize for the out of date website. It's been that way for a while, and I have been too busy to update it for quite a while. Smile

If you'd like the schedule for the rest of the year, feel free to drop me an email.

Thanks!

I apologize. I have limited time, as I'm running back and forth across the country to teach while trying to raise my two kids. I therefore have to prioritize my time, and for better or worse people paying for instruction are getting prioritized above people who are only interested in getting freebies.

It would hardly be fair to the students I've been busy teaching if I took time away from those who paid for it to work on the (still quite large) volume of emails I get from other people.

I also tend to prioritize my kids above both those groups, which means that when I am at the computer answering emails and my daughter wants me to play Sleeping Beauty, she's going to get my time.

Does that make me slower about responding to emails (or posting on these forums)? Sure. Am I ok with how that prioritizes my life? You bet.

Perhaps one day (which might come sooner than I'd thought, actually) I'll get back to a place where teaching takes a higher priority in my general schedule. Until then, I'll give what I can, prioritize as I must, and try to be the best father I can to the people who are really the most important ones in my life.

Thanks.

Hi Tom, I'm quite surprised to read your description of Death Camp applicants as only interested in getting freebies.
I have met a couple of people who have chosen to invest considerable sums in travelling and accomodation to do the course with you rather than a cheaper option of an FJC closer to home. I was under the impression that that wasn't because the course was 'a freebie' but because of the quality of the course, the material covered, which seems set up to prepare 'freestanding' BASE jumpers, and of course the application process, which doesn't seem to be the norm with FJC's.
However, thanks for posting a reply so quickly, good to know you are still around and running the course.
A reply to my PM would be much appreciated when you have time.

I think you have misread me Unsure - I'm suggesting that while Death Camp is free of charge (with a donation to a charity) some peolpe choose it because it is a darn fine course that suits them, rather than because it's the cheapest option

Out of the woodworks. I didn't know you still had the place in Twin. I'm here in twin right now.

I've watched parts of the course and it seemed pretty good.

If you're taking any course, Focus on your canopy control!

Re: [smskydiver] Death Camp query
Chose an FJC recently in a group. The price of the course didn't play a part in it - we would have been happy to have had longer instruction and pay more for it thats for sure. What put us off the death camp idea was the focus on the 'death' component.
Am aware of what can go wrong, even in just a few weeks of solid jumping at TF we saw some 'interesting' shit that made us well aware f what we are playing with.
With that in mind, we were more than happy with the instruction we got while we were there.
