Line-release toggles
So, I've been thinking about going to line-release toggles since I saw a pretty sexy set in Baffin... I'm doing mostly slider-up jumping these days, and my feeling is that most line-relese toggles would be fine for the occasional slider-down jump anyway. I know this kind of thing often ends in "Here's what I use, and they're the best thing evar," but I thought I'd give it a shot. What options are available for WLO-style toggles out there?

I've seen some using pins and some using cable. I can see advantages to cable, I think, if the tail is long enough (also, for no good reason, I'm partial to not having rigid bits in my toggles), but it seems like it'd kink more easily than a pin, too. Thoughts?

Finally, most of the toggles I've seen are of the "big grab" variety, but since I'm a go-to-risers kind of guy, I'd really prefer a lower-profile toggle. I know I've seen such a beast in the WLO world, but can't find it on the internet.

Just curious, why?

I have jumped both flat & big grab;
both pack and open the same, only
difference is how quickly you can
insert your hand in them... wow

''Line over often take place on slider down'' or ''Toggles would be fine for the occasional slider-down jump anyway'' - This is very common misconception, as the true is exactly opposite. Due to proper useing of tail gate the line over on SD is minor while on SU jumps due to mostly to big PC the line over is more common.
Take the WLO toggles for SD or SU jumps. It can only help

Re: [robibird] Line-release toggles
Miscommunication here, I think. I didn't mean to imply that the toggles would serve primarily for my few slider-down jumps. I recall when they came out that people were concerned about slider-down jumps deforming the pin or cable, so meant to say only that it seems they'd be great to have for my slider-up jumps, and would probably survive my occasional slider-down.

Since I'm not looking to go to toggles to correct an off-heading, I'm not sure getting into my toggles is ever a "now, now, now" thing for me. If that's the case, then there's no benefit to big grab toggles. On the other hand, having a giant loop flagging around during opening almost certainly increases the risk of accidental toggle release at least marginally, so there is a cost involved, even if it's a small one.

I'm glad you type so poorly people wont take you too seriously. I would never remove the cable from easy grab type toggles. Out of 900 or so jumps, most have been with either my own modified toggles, Asylum big grab type toggles, or WLO. My last few hundred have been with WLO both slider up and down.

My set up.

Perigee Pro with stock asylum risers and WLO toggles
Black Jack 240

Hangups occur by the toggle sticking in the white loop, or the cateye. Generally that only occurs if the toggle is shoved in too far, the toggle is soft, or the cateye is too small.

Take a good look at the equipment and see what would allow a hang up. Don't just glance at it. If there is a problem, you can almost always see what's causing it if you think of the forces applied during deployment.

That's all I have for now. I'm sitting outside the Nova bar in San Francisco waiting for some people to show up so we can eat.

Typed with my thumbs using a touch keyboard on a malfunctioning Droid.

why not??
it keepa the WLO flatter, ye t no so flat that i cannot grab rite away.

anywa thers nothi ng wrong with removing the cable from your WLO'z at all!
and as far as big grabz go again u dont need cable eiher! qll ya hav todo is creat memory on the flat tooggle pulling up on toggl under pack job and puttin pack job back down on it or while pack job is un packed clampp a toggle with perminant crease at the topp and it makes a goood memorey in if?????

make anysense? does to me any way im not good at explaininng stuff but im not drinking no w so spelling is good even though typing on my phone :-) (hookit!)

2 cents!

a) your efforts to mimic base75 are pathetic
b) which problem you solving by taking the cable out of the big grab ?

If your rig really packs so tight that the toggles dig into your back, I suggest tailoring yoru packjob to accommodate the monstrous bulk that those toggles are.

and of course - HTFU !

unfortunately,,,you refus to realise that i told the guy originate poster what he needed to hear based on my experienc,, see...

u have no terminal experience or not much i should say (at serious tracking and WS BASE),,, i've got it with these here toggles see... WS and tracking for awhile now see.

i'm rellay taking my time with spelling now ,,, i drink alot so what,,, i i come on hre sometimes drunks and type.. but know i'm speaking from experience and im attacked,,, whatever... nerds will be nerds..

imean shite man, i'm answer the question,, what ive done is ok,,, or why don't you ask Todd, huh???

guess what heres a secret he sasy it's ok! from what i here..

im me not 75 dude,,,although hes cool. not tryjin to be no--one but me...and even then not trying at all..

and again i answered his question..i've got at least 180 to 200ish terminal (would have to reallly look up to be exact) on the mentioned toggles in BASE enviroment..

and allot more in SD enviro. considering all i jump in BASE tarps anymore..on the same setup with WLOz

their just easier to
Pack in SD rig and BASE rig withoutt the yellow cable in em' see. and work the fn'
same..

so unless you vid666 have something positive to add for OP, and some experience ,(not just minimal) stop pickin' on me, i doing the best i can here to be positive and have fun im my own way and help out too.

all i ever see of your posts are nerdy little jabs at everyone,,, just picking on people.. instead of nicely pointing things out etc...

maybe you feel inferior about stuff and perject ....o never mind...Wink

and of course - HTFU ...what's this mean??
