NUTZ!!

I was out for a night at the [] and I look up and see 2 dudes flying through air. crazy bastards jumped from [a] crane. then made a smooth getaway.

I was wondering If any one has the video or know if or when I would be posted on here or You tube. Im thinking youtube would be a better pic.... the boys at the [] dont beleave me and i would like to see the jump from there point. and to prove Im not joshing


any info any a possible video would be wicked... thanks guys

we actively discourage site naming. some jumpers may not always secure the owner's permission, plus we don't want to make it too easy on underprepared jumpers to get hurt.

don't be surprised if no one acknowledges this potential jump. many in BASE just don't brag about their feats. plus, you really have not introduced yourself that well.

(we've had posts such as this from reporters in the past. the publicity rarely helps.)

There's more than one of those objects in town, but I'm thinking they will all be alot harder to get into in the future with these guys dayblazing everything they jump.

And I'm sure that their vidoe will make it to youtube sooner or later if it wasn't uploaded the minute they got into their cars. They need the attention to stoke their ego so they can go around saying "I'm Badass"

We have dayblazed so much shit that the city is now fire retardant . Middle of the fucking day and not even a mention in the press.

We raped the city til she gave in and assumed it was consensual sex. At first we got some complaints but with enough going for it she just doesnt care anymore. Our city is unblazable.

A nice jump would have been for them to go in, jump it without anyone else the wiser so it could be done like that repeatedly. JMO

Hey dude although the jump went well for the boys and the getaway worked out in my opinion it was not a success because you and probably many others witnessed them jumping. The sport of BASE around here is a small comunity and not well known of by the media or other athorities. I am sure that I can speak for some of the other guys and say that attention is not something we want. This isnt a sport for egos and the "Hey look at me guys" But hell what do I know I'm just some dude that does stuff.

To be perfectly frank, this jump would have been great if it was more thought out and had better planning. Since it was blazed and witnessed it was NOT a success. Not to mention that there was a 180 opening which could have ended horribley. 2WA needs to be more respectful of the other locals that can now no longer jump the object. This jump, as cool as it may have looked, was a sad day for the locals in Edmonton. Why take one of the already few sites and burn it? Not cool.

what kind of cities do you have in canada where you get away completely unseen on downtown jumps? do they flip up the sidewalsk at 1 in the night too?
theres always gonna be a pedestrian, someone smoking outside a bar etc.

I tried scoping out a bridge down there and got lectured by the most redneck/white trash fucks i have ever seen in my life who lived UNDER the bridge. Followed us around on a 4-wheeler and started talking to us about hepatitis in the water!

Fortunately, Edmonton is not that large of a city and almost completely dies downtown between midnight and 3 during the week. I'm just saying that some different choices could have been made to have a successful jump and gotten away unseen. It has been done. If these people are going to jump downtown I'm just asking that they be smart about it and not ruin it for the rest of us.

There has been a cohesive crew of jumpers in Alberta for a dozen years. Never been any of this childish crap going on here before. Sounds lke the new kids on the block should grow up a little. Figures that they would be from Edmonton.....

Hahaha...well I am new to BASE and am going to stay out of all the BS. I just think that the B that got jumped was actually pretty cool and it's not like it is gonna be open for long anyhow...in my opinion.

I have to say it sounds like you must be from Calgary...Edmonton haters, lol!

For the most part there was. There was some mutual camaraderie in Alberta. These guys don't really seem to get it. They are showing off and making sure people see them as "badass". It's sad really. If there was a little etiquette it would be much better then this.

canadrama galore.if it was me I'd just go to wherever the offending jumpers are from and just dayblaze all their best stuff...

The offending jumpers are already doing everything they can to burn all the objects in their home area, in the hopes that by (paraphrased from an email conversation with one of said jumpers) "... getting as much exposure as possible, BASE jumping from privately and corporately owned objects will become welcomed, in a manner similar to the situation in Malaysia."

Personally, I think this change in public/corporate attitude will never happen in North America due to the current legal climate, but I could be wrong.

 

the funny thing about that news article is that the second jumper that was rescued wasn't part of the group being singled out here, but from another group from the edmonton area.
i am the guy flying my parachute (probably shot by someone passing by and put on youtube, then picked up by the media), tim emmit "world famous base jumper" might have a few jumps from the chief?,but i think climbing's more his thing and the video of the second guy being rescued is moline .... the same guy that wrote this " A nice jump would have been for them to go in, jump it without anyone else the wiser so it could be done like that repeatedly. that was just before he had a line over and almost went in on my cliff.i saw him hanging there myself. there was also some pretty pathetic actions taken by his friends after the strike,but i won't get into that here.
my suggestion would be to keep comments like that to yourself cause you never know when karma will strike back.
i never though there would be this much drama involved in base jumping and its getting pretty old, so lets try and end this soon.
in moline's defense i will say that after the accident he did make a hefty donation to our local search and rescue which we really appreciated...and in defense of the other guys in edmonton...they were cool enough to stay off the chief the weekend that the second accident happened at the request of the locals.to me that shows that they have base ethics and respect when traveling outside of their area.so if they feel like doing whatever in their own town... its their town,their objects.
so now that there are a lot of people involved in base,with all kinds of reasons, goals, egos, ect...i think we all need to start showing a little more respect for objects,base ethics and the locals who use them,i'm sure everyone will have more fun again and again,at home and away.
....now lets stop the bitching and drama and go jump off something.

i am embarrassed more and more as i read this being a base jumper from this city...i am embarrassed i feel i should respond to this form...why do people with a handful of jumps of a bridge while someone is holding your hand automaticy think as soon as they jumped from the bridge they are a expert and have the knowledge to be a critic as well the perfect base ethics critic
This building is in the middle of crack central the alley behind it has at any given time 20 crackheads smoking crack behind it the methadone clinic is across the street..the landing area is in the casino parking lot where people are walking in and out of all night... all the drug dealers go to the casino when the bars close at 2am and the undercover drug and gang units(police) sit in the casino parking lot to watch the gang and drug dealers go in and out.....the later you get the more crackheads there are and the more cops are going to notice you...so to say the proper time to jump the object is between 3am and 6 am is someone who hasnt scoped the building out to know what goes on on that block at that time of night..they planned there jump and didnt get any police or media attention they jumped after the sun had set and were gone in 40secs to be seen only by a handful of people on etowns most busiest intersections,to me sounds like a sucessful jump ....the object is so far from burned and could be jumped any day....all it takes is the want to do it...i can tell you how to get in know problem
why anybody feels the need to talk shit about others or talk about base ethics like they have been jumping for more than 3 years and are the base ethics police i dont know......i did noticed is that there isnt any response from the group being targeted here and i commend that-leave the shit talk for the woman and haters
you have people like moline talking all this shit about base ethics and burning objects then the guy turns around and against the locals who asked him not to do it that day as there was alot of media covering a rock climbing event...goes and burns the chief to the ground -talk about disrespect...not to mention saying something about it would be good if one of them went in-that does not belong in base jumping
Base jumping is so much more than sitting on a computer and saying so and so sucks a big one...it is about living life to the fullest and enjoying the beauty and feelings and FRIENDSHIPS that come about thru the journeys and adventures this wonderful thing we are blessed to have gives us.
it is about learning and teaching

No rock climbing. There was no media at the chief. The loggers festival had already ended before said jump took place. I showed them the exit point the night before and the chief was dead. Had the same thing happened to anybody at anytime this summer the outcome would have been most likely the same.

So they talked about banning BASE jumping in favour of safer cliffs..... this will be naive and simplistic: Lift the "take off and landing of an aircraft in a provincial park" and "aerial delivery" bullshit from parks that host beautiful sites that we could all have fun.

I do not agree with the lady's comments about us 'flaunting' the system. Most jumpers do approach objects and walk down. Jump or no jump, you still live.

My answer to that is that whoever said it can't be jumped never really tried. There are a few who did try and the results are clear for all those who doubted to see. Perhaps anyone who wanted to jump it should have tried a little harder...

In conclusion that building must not have been "burnt"...perhaps there never was a fire? If there was it must have been smoldering and never really burning. I think people should be careful of judging others without really knowing the whole situation or putting in a little effort to actually make the jump themselves.

Situations like dayblazing as the picture shows? Can you shed light on that situation? Was it laziness? Wanting enough lighting for some radtastic "look at me" stuff? A picture is worth a thousand words....

Check out the security measures for yourself...you can perhaps enlighten me as to how you will do it so much better.

Not about the "radtastic" photo, more about proving a point...read back through the thread and tell me how many of those that posted actually tried this jump. As far as "dayblazing" goes that was covered earlier on in the thread as well. Remeber this was the "burnt" building so I suppose one can jump something that is "not jumpable" whenever one chooses...cause noone else is missing out, right?
