That second one was actually a Paragliding incident, incorrectly reported as a BASE accident. Most other media outlets have it as a Paragliding accident. plummy

A little bit after the news came out, I'd emailed one of my mates who was out there with Daryl to see how everyone was coping. All he said about the incident was, "Unable to reach his pilot chute in freefall position. Tried all the way in to get it."
Wasn't a good time to be asking details.
He wasn't jumping the actual falls and the position of the landing area to this particular exit would make it kind of hard to see what exactly went wrong during his freefall.
