Ground Crew
So im going back to NY from Utah end of month. In my last post everyone said a good idea was to get on a ground crew. Since im moving to a new DZ and have no idea who around there to trust yet and dont know anyone, any body got good tips to getting on a ground crew in NY?

****Dont post anything specific on here, send me a private message**

Eager to learn and hopefully line up a mentor for when i am ready to enter the sport down the road.

Fuck it, I'll be the rebellious one, and post info on here instead of sending you a PM.

Last I checked (7th grade in middle school) NY State is 285 miles wide and 330 miles long. That makes for a very good assumption that unless you can teleport you would get better info if you provided the part of the state you are in. Unless of course you like living in NYC and groundcrewing to the folks in Buffalo - that kind of dedication surely will get you noticed and fast tracked into the world of BASE. Perhaps you can get them to take you on the first jump with like 198 skydives !!!

Yes i do, go and ask the local base jumpers at your (new) DZ and ask them, id be surprised if a base jumper will come up to you in the street and ask you.

Im not being rude but come on the answer to this question is obvious.....

Dont DIE!

Are you a hot chick? If not, do you have a hot sister? That can go a long way. Can you hold a camera? Can you shoot video? What blood type are you if something goes wrong, I prefer A+, but if you are a universal donor that helps. Can you render first aid? Can you climb? Can you drive? Can your run fast ?

Post pics of your Red Cross donor card with blood type.

These are important questions for ground crew.

edited, cause, sorry, I thought the user name was ssmigirl...

Re: [ssmirigl] Ground Crew
the best information is always given face to face. people can look in your eyes and see how well you comprehend, and then adjust the presentation. it may require repeating, or covering the ground faster.

thus, wander the dz's in your area. if you come across with abilities and fit it, you'll find what you are looking for.

if you are a hot chick, advice can get distorted in person.

20 minutes from the ranch? In that case, Sonic can let you ground crew his BASE jumps from an airplane. It's kinda like hanging around the dropzone, but much cooler because you get to see Sonic in a BASER.

And seriously people, "ask around the dropzone for BASE jumpers?" Where I jump, walking in and asking who the base jumpers are is like walking into church and asking where the whores are. Sure everybody knows they are there, but nobody wants to talk about it. ( I was gonna make that about Catholic priests, but figured I would violate that rule about pedophilia jokes).

when society frowns on an activity, people tend to hold an aversion to discussing it. private, personal things rarely get shared openly.

think of the movie "Office Space." they need advice on how to launder money, but have never established a relationship with someone who can help.

barging into a dz and asking who BASE jumps probably will get odd looks at most US dz's.

hanging out at a dz, prove you are serious about jumping, diligently learn, demonstrate you have skill as well as desire, etc. and build relationships before bringing up BASE. I bet the reaction will be wildly more satisfying.
