the key rule is
"Contact the Locals."

conditions vary by region, object, state, who owns the object, who owns the land, etc.

we don't typically allow discussion of specific sites here, so only vague generalities are possible. contacting the locals in your area (start at your home dz) remains the best option.

First off there is website called GOOGLE on something called the internet........try using it just once.

Second off since you live in NY there is an old time jumper that goes by BASE75. If you don't want to use GOOGLE then contact said jumper for some advice on "daylighting antennas".

Enjoy your shit sandwhich!

This is my second post and really appreciate the insight that everyone here has to add

I was wondering if people could talk about the Laws for BASE in the US. From the time I was a kid and wanted to get into it I was always told its illegal everywhere in the US except for specific days during the year are specific places. Now im hearing that places like the Perrie (apologies for the spelling) Bridge are legal year round. I live in NY but travel to the west coast and Utah,Wyoming areas a lot. Can you give me a taste of the Laws in the New England Area and the Utah Wyoming area? Also maybe some of the unspoken rules that people in the BASE community follow that I would be unaware of such as not daylighting antennas in areas that are highly used by others and easily viewable from populated areas.

This is stuff that your FJC instructor/mentor will be able to explain to you a lot better than the people on this forum (as you can already tell by the last 3 replies).

Re: [avenfoto] BASE Laws in the US
a cool friend of mine was actually a probation officer for a period and gave it up because of stress. yes, i know, but he was actually cool. he said in Houston, process time in was on average 2 to 3 days and the county was proud that they only spent $4 per day on food for their inmates. as Spacy once said, United Police States of America.

when I got in trouble for running from them on a base jump, almost all the cops were really cool with it, shaking my hand and such, and even the women cops in the jail were asking for my autograph. if i had not had a girlfriend at the time, i would have been more opportunistic with it, kind of like from the film Raising Arizona. their curteous friendly and professional behavior came from being polite and projecting humility, plus they could tell i wasn't a criminal even though i knew how to get object access.
