giving them another reason to close the valley
i dont want to start a discussion, because it will end up in serious stupidity like in the most topics found here.

i also dont want to say where i made this fotos just in case some locals may pay attention on this.
most of you know this very famous spot.

i (what means it is my own and personal opinion) can just repeat the first basejumping rule my mentor told me :
"take only pictures, leave only footprints."

dont forget that we are only tolerated by the locals and not accepted.
most of them dont understand what we are doing but it is okay for them as long as we respect them and bring foreign exchange.

note: respect can only be payed with respect.

maybe a half-ass oomiak to haul stuff up a snowy hill?

one thing for sure - it's proof that a MORON passed through.

Cool

Hate to say it, but I am pretty sure that yellow thing was there when I was jumping last year... It's not that hard to crunch up the empty bottles and put them in a pocket, either. I was even still able to track with smashed bottles in my pockets... Unimpressed

yikes, but at least it's not a sunken oil rig.

Re: [DFF] giving them another reason to close the valley
As I hate jumping down with stuff, I dont hike with stuff to the exit point. If I do a walkdown I will of course do a trash run. another great resource is
whuffos/photographers.
Take care,

i am sorry to say, i saw all this shit when i was there a few weeks ago, but refrained from saying anything. it is pretty sad.

sorry to say also, there was much more trash than that... i jumped what i could down in my cargo pockets. that is completely ridiculous.Crazy

especially the shitty ass "tracking" pants and that fucking sled. pathetic.

Not to sound like an idiot....but what is with all the bottles? Do jumpers really still hike up with that shit? Spend $7 on a 1L bladder already that doesnt leave trash, isnt as bulky, and you can jump down. It requires more effort to hike in bottles than bladders.

the garbage buildup at our local b...the exit point is right through the door in the background

Not sure how you are so surprised? The fastest way to get to the bridge is to follow the empty keystone cans!Laugh

What the F...!!!! That sled was mine!!! I brought it with me in February 2006! Mirko, harry and I did a few jumps with it in 06...

I binned it at the horner pub after collecting it each time from the talus...

I seriously apologize for it reappearing on an exit...

Some fu..ing moron must have gone dumpster diving!

The retard probaly took it up and did not have the balls to jumps with it! and simply left it there...

Funny memories seing that sled...
but very disheartening to know it's now at an exit point littering.

Chris

Ps: If it's still there by the end of June when I should be in the valley I will make a point to do a trash run to bring it down. AGAIN!!

PSS: If someone is in the valley right now and has the heart to bring that mystic, forever reappearing sled down, he is more thank welcome to put it in the trash...

Adventures of the mystic sled continue... I remember seeing a certain scandinavian very short haired well known jumper making a jump with highly similar looking sled in the christmas boogie 07/08. I also remember him hiking up the talus, retrieving the sled and returning it to horner after the jump.

The jump can be found near the end of our video from that trip : http://markus.arcticcircleurbanbaseextreme.com/patska.mp4

Re: [base283] giving them another reason to close the valley
Any BASE jumper or mountain climber that leaves trash on top has totally missed the entire point of why they should love what they are doing and where they are doing it. Everest looks like a trash dump and lets not F--k up the real spirit of BASE as a celebration of the human spirit and what we are capable of by proving to others by littering showing we're just a bunch of sloppy punks. No really good BASE jumper I've ever known the last 30 years would leave this kind of shit for others to clean up. If you're that kind of person, please do not bother to apply for a BASE number. The spirit of BASE includes respecting our environment, Especially on cliffs. Carl's personal message on the back of the card reaffirms this, so don't apply unless you believe in a few of these ethics.
Thanks and sorry if I sound bumbed, but BASE jumpers really need to know where to draw the line. Hell, we have enough reputation issues to overcome as it is.
Thanks.

Totally agree with you Rick. No Trash.

But as an aspiring RB athlete I always paint a big X on the ground where I intend to land, cut down every tree near the exit point, then tag the object with my name and date of the jump. Smile

No, cutting down would imply no stump left... They left stumps to remember them by.

I reminded the police of this when they searched my car; they wouldn't stop complaining about how much junk was in my vehicle. I countered with "hey, I don't litter!"

Re: [HELLvetic] giving them another reason to close the valley
no worries. sledge is still up there. it was just misused as a dustbin.
i remember this sledge since i was the fist time here. its like a piton. a useful tool that should not be removed.

What a bunch of tard-bots. It's not hard to take your small bottle, squish it, and stick it in your tracing pants or w/s bootie.

Loosers. Probably landed in the meter high grass too.

well, your footprint is definitely larger than mine. i will bring a barrel of agent orange to my next landing area. its less work and good to see for a long time.Tongue
