Hi guys, i'm editing a video for a UK record label Surfer Rosa.
The track is called Stuka by Stripper feat Mc Sirreal. It has a rolling divebombing bassline so i need royalty free HQ video of BASEjumping or anything hurtling towards the earth.
Any footage i use will be credited. This video will get TV airplay so i need full permission to use your footage.

While I dont nescessarily agree totally with the previous poster´s style, I agree with his message. Shall we risk our lives and HQ cameras and cinemagraphic skills to promote your vid so you can make money? What is in it for the jumper? Free 10secs on TV in trade for maybe being dead for more than 10secs and losing footage?
Lurk a bit and you will see the tree that you are wanting to bark up or piss on.

i was being crass, to attempt to show you the audacity of what your asking.

you have a paying project, financed by a record label, with end result being consumer television.
youre requesting broadcast quality footage, that someone has risked thier life to capture.
youre only form of payment offered is "credit"



go try that at the grocerey or anywhere else..
when its time to pay, just tell them that youre not going to pay in funds, but instead youll tell everyone where you bought your groceries.

i bet thier response is similar.

BASE jumpers tend to have strong opinions and try to control a ton of variables. I doubt the ones who create the really gorgeous images will want to give up creative control and let you do whatever.

one possible collaborator has posted twice and made his opinions rather obvious. I expect most (including me) will agree with him.

heck, does anyone even know the song? people have been burned before. I doubt anyone wants their work associated with a song about suicide (for example)!

i hear what you're saying and though i've skydived numerous times but not basejumped i do have an understanding of the risk you guys take.
i'm just an editor, the record label has asked me to try and find some royalty free footage coz they are just starting out and can't really afford to pay anyone. i could go and rip footage from youtube but i want to do it the right way and get people's permission which is why i've posted on here and been completely honest about my intentions. i know you guys don't like it but hey, i had to ask.

Royalty free does not equal free.

If the label doesn't have any money to pay for footage they probably don't have the money to defend a lawsuit when you rip other people's work off YouTube.

i can provide you some epic royalty free footage.
give us a storyline, or a loose script and ill make you some timelapse.
if youre working on nobudget, its time to think outside the box...
