What is a good job for a BASE jumper?
Im taking into account getting hurt sometimes, looking for a great Idea for what to do that is forgiving and pays well. Im currently a Diesel tech for big trucks but find if I get hurt I sorta SOL. Ive read around and havent found a great answer for this question. So all in all, good pay, ok with hurt workers, flexible, and some what fulfilling. Just a question, there may not be good answer for this.

Any job that provides full medical coverage and can pay for your unemployment after you get fired for being a liability for missing so much work.

If you like being a diesel tech, I would suggest just getting long term disability insurance. It's generally cheaper if you can get it through work. If you get hurt to the extent that you will not be able to return to physical work, it will at least give you time to find a new path.

Anyone know if disability insurance plans will cover you if hurt while trespassing?

I worked for a small (100+ employees) manufacturing firm. they provided health insurance, but were "self-insured."

after I was hired, they changed an exclusionary clause to prevent paying for injuries related to high risk sporting activities, including skydiving. (I do not know what would have happened had they known I also BASE jumped...)

it's not hard to find an activity frowned upon by the general population, including BASE. mentioning one might not help you in an interview, during the initial probationary period, security review (if required), or even as a candidate for promotion.

just another good reason to start with skydiving and see if a company will tolerate THAT. heck, what happens if you re-injure that bad knee just learning to skydive?

I really encourage you to focus on A, then B, then C, etc. it seems like you want to skip ahead to P.

Yeah. Most places will work from home once broken, and people are tolerant of things like lounge chairs in your cube so you can prop up your broken leg.
