Re: [seldomseen_mark] settings for Gpro
r5 is the highest quality (1080p). I usually use that. You might find if your computer isn't good enough (esp PC) that you can't do much with it without downgrading the quality. I think r2 is 720p and the widest and r3&4 are 960p with one being 60 frames per second. r1 is like the old go pro

Re: [seldomseen_mark] settings for Gpro
I'm using R3 (720p/60fps) which is really good for slow motion.

You can see the difference between 30fps and 60fps in this video:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md-JjZm5VTA
1st clip (0-3s) was shot with 30fps and the second clip (4-6s)was shot in 60fps.

Colors looks "washed out " in this setting though (easily fixed using some color filters provided by most NLE software).

Edited to add video.

Edited again to make the video "clicky"... Blush

Re: [seldomseen_mark] settings for Gpro
GoPro for dummies (avoiding most of the technical jargon)

r5: highest resolution
r4: widest angle (170 degree field of view vs. 127 on r5)
r3: shoots in 60 fps slow motion

When viewed on a 60 inch LED flatscreen, most can not tell the difference between the 3 of these settings besides the 16:9 of r5 and the 4:3 of r4.

I primarily shoot in r4, sometimes in r3 if wanting slow motion exit shots of two ways, and r5 if doing skydiving type jumps where I'm not as close to the other jumpers and don't want them to look so far away.
