IMO...if you've got time to use the 2nd canopy then you're pulling too high...

I've only actually ever done a couple of jumps with a real one-parachute base rig. Most of my jumps were with my regular skydiving rig with maybe a long bridle and big pc, sometimes slider up, bag-off. Altho' on some low jumps over water we took the reserve out, probably the biggest mind-block to me with jumping a base=rig was getting into the idea that, hey, there's only one chute, man....

I still have no problems jumping a modified skydiving rig, while base-rigs scare the bejesus out of me.
