...to be mentored? Excluding a formal fjc.

I've personally been researching preparing to get into BASE for around 2 yrs now. I will have to head west to Houston/Bueamont area or to a guy I know who lives in Alabama (East), but does tandems out of Slidell, LA. The reason for travel is there is noone around (Lafayette, LA) who actively BASE jump. Our skydiving community is very small and there is not much interest in BASE at all. So, I'm alone in my journey for the most part.

So, for me its going to be 3-5 hrs travel, minimum. I realize it could be much worse, but around here there are towers everywhere.Pirate I'll just have to continue to be patience and wait for them. Got the gear and will start traveling soon enough. Smile

Agreed! There is more than enough objects around here, and I realize I will travel a lot when BASE is involved. Just wanted to see what the travel situation was with other jumpers getting started. I need some more know how before I'm going to jump anything over here. I just want to make sure I'm not missing anything.Wink

I know a couple of jumpers that have a few jumps, but no one is by any means active. Back in the day when they had more skydivers, there were more BASE jumpers. This was around Spacey Tracy's time over here (give or take).Smile
