Is this jumpable?
Firstly, I am far from ready to start base jumping, I reckon in a years time I will have enough skydives for me to be ready. Anyway I was out on my motorbike and I noticed this aerial which is only about 3-5 miles from where I live. Would it be possible to do a static/assisted deployment jump from this or is it simply too low. I am trying to find the height of it.

Trying to figure out if you are a Troll or an Idiot?

In any event, YES, that antenna is jumpable and

so is my 2 story house, sadly neither are landable Wink

Start practicing flat turns so you can turn back into the wind safely. ;-)

...everything is jumpable - at least one time ;-)

Re: [Boris73] Hmmm
look around the forums. if you did, you'd see some Kenyans figured out how to jump a very low bridge. (it is NOT beginner stuff.)

the big question is not if an object is high enough to jump. the big question is does a jumper have the necessary skills to pull it off. required skills may involve stealth, canopy skills, rigging skills, etc.

if you must ask, then odds are you lack the skills required.

Very true, and as soon as I made the post I realised it won't be a beginner jump, non the less, I am still curious if it is achievable for an experienced jumper.

Re: [Boris73] Hmmm
Hello Boris,

Just because an object is close does NOT make it a good one.

That antenna is LOW, covered in a metric fuck ton of dishes,
located inside a fenced compound, with a building next to it,
and has an asphalt parking lot for a landing area.

Everyone with double digit jump numbers knows I have done
some sketchy/dumb jumps but that takes the cake. Also the
altitude is not hard to guess based on the building height but
there are numerous ways to determine its exact height with
the information many of us post whores have contributed.

Smart ass quips to dumb questions are the standard here and
funny to those of us who are further along the path, if you had
read some threads on this forum before posting you would have
seen that. Again I have been guilty of the same, once confused
feet and meters and got some shit for it (and deserved it).

Lastly, if you think a smart ass comment from some dipshit
on the internet is painful wait till you experience 3+ second
delay slider-off, hard landings on asphalt, broken bones, etc.

I didn't think your "smart ass" comment was painful, if anything I found it amusing. Anyway I know you're only trying to help so thanks. As for the antenna, I know fuck all, as I have said I have NO, zero, zilch, fuck all BASE experience only skydiving experience. I just thought it might be do able provided it was done as an assist/static jump. On that note thanks for crushing my hopes of having an object on my door step, you fucker Wink

Re: [Boris73] Hmmm
btw...

the Kenyans asked questions here as well before jumping that S. since they have little access to other jumpers, fine. they still thought it through, questioned if they had enough experience, etc. they did a great job.

if you want to jump low, ugly stuff, do not worry about the distance to your residence. consider instead the distance to the local hospital. jump it often enough and surely you'll get careless or have a minor hesitation...

Re: [Boris73] Hmmm
New jumpers falling in love with objects close to where they live or work is one common mistake. That thing looks like a death sandwich without the bread. Go find something else. Use an aerial map and find something better.

Don't forget to put dorkzone hero on the load. He will love it, but probably will ask you to go first.

Cool

Re: [GreenMachine] Hmmm
as an urban base jumper that building would be too easy to infiltrate, super quick climb and a squeaky clean exit out of the parking lot (obvious landing area). I say go for it, use large mesh and a 42 toxic, or a 46 if your poor. C'mon challenge us. trolls are just not the same these days.

just need some clarity, if i jumped from a 15ft platform with a "type" of canopy (cld be a bed sheet, cld be a base canopy), which was inflated & obv slowed my descent is this a basejump?
following on from the 9yr old kid thread on incidents.... if i died in the process i expect to be on BFL.

if so, fcuk fjc's. i am a basejumper.....once i build a 10ft sand castle, a span (plank) across the sewer ditch flowing under my trailer etc etc...Micro BASE #001....

I went to meet Borris a few months ago (thats a whole different story) and had a look at this while I was there.

It is very jumpable, I don't think a crappy little freestander is worth the hassle, but it is 100% jumpable, landable and repeatable.

I've pretty much given up on skydiving, cannot stay current enough not to kill myself at the moment, think I have done about 5 or 6 skydives in the past 4 years.
Might dust of the old Katana this summer and see what happens.

Oh and for the record it is around 120ft with a decent LZ round the back.
