The Hangout

New kid
Hello all. My name is Dan, I joined the forums the other day so I thought I'd quickly introduce myself so I'm not just a lurker.

I live in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. I'm 24, soon to be married with an amazing 4 year old son.

I'm into cars. Anything and everything really from fast cars to 4wd's.

I Completed my AFF course back when I was 17 with my dad. Since then we have completed B-Rels and done around about 200 jumps together. Both of us are sitting at around 380 jumps each. My Old boys aim is to get into a wing suit and just fly.

Myself though, I want to do the opposite. I want to explore, climb, camp, find an amazing spot...enjoy the view, then jump. I want to travel, then repeat the above. haha.

BASE is something that has always fascinated me. The danger, the rush, the comradery and the respect for the environment.

Within the near future I want to find my way into YOUR culture. I want to be welcomed. I want to do my part to contribute to such an amazing sport... and then of course, I want the rush.

So a quick thanks to the moderators and admin of the site as I will no doubt gain a plethora of knowledge and tips from here that will not only teach me some of the finer points of your sport, but will no doubt one day keep me alive.

Wink
Thanks,
Dan

Word.

Welcome. There are some good peeps down under, learn everything.
and watch out, that country is not the most forgiving for BASE jumping, in all aspects.

Welcome Dude

Your quote is cute, but wrong Wink
It should read:
For once you have jumped slider down, you will forever walk the earth with your head looking forwards, For there are the B's, and there you will long to be Tongue

Thanks for the welcome.

I've been searching almost non stop for anything and everything BASE. Looking for packing technique(not that I'm at that stage yet, meerly out of interest), I've found a mountain of photo's on here, so thankyou to all who post photo's. I've found heaps of stories about the good and not so good sides of the sport and I am finding mysel getting excited just over the stories! Laugh

It'll be quite a long road I think. I'm just stuck as to which direction to head.
Whats my first step? Any thoughts from you guys out there? Do I buy a rig? Do I search for somone who will loan me one? DO people loan rigs? I'm in Australia... Laws here aren't as BASE friendly as they seem to be in Europe.

Please, somone give me a heading.

Cheers!

Re: [jumpdanjump] New kid
I suppose do an FJC and go from there?

Re: [Sangi] New kid
Now that would be the obvious first step. Unfortunately there isn't a listing in the yellow pages for 'one stop school of illegal extreme sports' hence the reason I'm here asking for pointers Tongue

Re: [jumpdanjump] New kid
I'm not sure about any FJC's in Australia..

In US and EU most are listed here: http://www.basejumper.com/...Jump_Course_802.html
