Re: [vid666] The Pussification of BASE
$50 per BASE pack? Damn! I could have made hundreds of dollars at my DZ last year from showing people how to pack and packing for them!

Re: [vid666] The Pussification of BASE
I wonder if he will carry your rig to the exitpoint for a small fee too?

Re: [FreeFallFiend] The Pussification of BASE

Re: [SpeedPhreak] The Pussification of BASE
sounds like the kinda guy that would charge $50 for a pack job and not even have the common courtesy to give you a reach around.

go to the heli boogie at kjirag.
during the boogie there are always packers doing pack jobs for around that amount and they are buisy from morning to evening (if the weather is good...)

For people who can afford the norgies heli-rides, expensive blowpack jobs are nothing Tongue

In my mind there's a huge difference between boogie packers or some pussy lazy add wannabe coming to his riggers loft for a certified BASE packjob.

Re: [vid666] The Pussification of BASE
Damn. 50 bucks for a base pack job that takes AT MOST 20 minutes. I wish we could comment to that ad.

At that rate I saved 1050 bucks on my record day of 21.

But it's only a certified BASE pack job if you seal it with safety tie and a lead seal... =;>

But I seal them with zip ties Laugh

It would be *certified like* if he crawled through it and inspected everything like he is supposed to on a skydiving rig.

Here was me thinking that they just skipped that part and charged you for it anyway.

Re: [hookitt] The Pussification of BASE
What about charging for an assembly/inspection of BASE gear?

Me personally, I never would have thought to charge someone to assemble or inspect their gear. That's more like a mentor type of thing and you use it to teach them more about their gear, and I'm happy to do it.

I view packing in the same vein. I'll pack your gear for free under a couple of situations; one, you trust my pack job and it's the only way I can get you to go and jump with me tonight (but you're buying the beer), and two, I'm teaching a new jumper to pack.

Either way, I'm probably good friends with them and wouldn't charge them for anything anyways.

Re: [vid666] The Pussification of BASE
+1 boogie pack job vs any other time.

For BD you have a 6 hour window, traveling accross the US to make 2 or 3 jumps when you could get 6-8 if you had a packer. For some it's worth it, for me I just learned to pack faster Wink

glad to know.
I had never heard of "FFA certified" before and was not sure how that differed.

surely, a detailed minded, FAA rigger would never make such a blatant mistake...

Damn, I can slam a pack job in around 20 minutes when we are jumping a big bridge, but not on average. Its more like 35 on average for me. Or one episode of Modern family.

Re: [Twoply] The Pussification of BASE
People that watch Modern Family are gay.

..I'm just saying.
