Pemberton World Mountain sports Festival
I just found this on Facebook,
Pemberton World Mountain sports Festival.

www.pembertongames.com

may 21-29

Looks like lots of jumps and all kinds of crazy fun. Save the date and we should all make a pilgrimage to Canada!

if you go to the part of that website that speaks of BASE, you'll find...

website wrote:
Local Skydiving outfit has been contacted and an event planned. BASE possibilities are also being examined.

so BASE is not necessarily included yet.

the page also has a bunch of photos from BD. some shots look very familiar to me, and I wonder if they have permission to post them.

Whistler Blackcomb is 20km away from Pemberton. I went there for the Olympics and meet Peter Chrzanowski. There are people making this happen and anyone who wants to jump is Invited.

join the Facebook page, and keep an eye on the Festival website.

Should be cool.

There are pilots to take people up for jumps. There are Great clubs and good beer for anyone, and the Drinking age is 19. We are working on Food, Sleeping space, and Beer.

Re: [GregorySherman] Pemberton World Mountain sports Festival
there is currently no BASE at this event.

thus this thread really does not to be in the General forum. I can argue that it is an advertisement/promotion and am tempted to delete it entirely.

the possible copyright issue bothers me as well.

for now, I've moved it to the Hangout. while I consider if it should even be here.

Re: [wwarped] Pemberton World Mountain sports Festival
who ever this peter guy is has not contacted any active local base jumpers and really doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to base.he also is using photos of local base jumpers to promote this with out their consent and his festival has been rejected by the municipality of pemberton. it is pretty much a big joke around here.
he is offering to drop people from paragliders, which isn't really is base jumping... but i can see how using 'base jumping' to advertise this will make the festival seem a lot cooler.
he also talks about other areas that "can be explored" ... he's not from a round here, probably doesn't know where the exits are or approach/technicality of any of them or anything to do with base at all, plus he isn't a base jumper, nor has he tried contacting any of us.you gotta love when outsiders come to your town and start giving away the goods.especially non-jumpers.wtf is with that?
i will not be going or helping peter out with anything and suggest that others looking to come here contact the locals first instead of this guy.
