Re: [mxcale] world looks different now
Super Congratulation on entering this STRANGE, WIERD, and WONDERFUL world of BASE. I've been in it for nearly 30 years and I can tell you, there is nothing left that will top what you feel on exit and top the comradary you will learn with some of your closest BASE buddies.
IF YOU WILL INDULDGE ME, I WOULD LIKE TO ELABORATE ON THE TOPIC OF HOW COOL BASE IS.
You are correct, from now on, you will Never be quite the same person as before you went off the edge. Hunter Thompson used to say that the only way you can know what the edge really is, is to go off of it. , No matter what you do, you will always look at this moment as the MOST significant thing you've ever done. I guess it's a physiological thing, or a mental chemical thing, but my friend, YOU have just reached the top of the mountain. What you do with it is up to you. You can really improve on it by learning good skydiving skills. Learning good canopy skills. Learning good wingsuit skills. Then see where you can take the sport. I guarantee you, never in recent times has a new sport had the potential of defining new limits of human possibilities. It has only been 29 years since Carl invented the Acronym BASE and my jump buddy Phil Smith, earned BASE 1 in Jan. 81. Think about the start. We used to fly away from cliffs. Now, the good ones fly proximity to the cliff and even into these insane gorges and valleys with wingsuits. Even Carl Boenish would be astounded at the video opportunities now coming true with the best proximity wingsuit jumps.
ANYWAY, Congrats my friend. When you get all 4, let us know so we can connect you to the start of this crazy but wonderful sport with a BASE #!!
