world looks different now
finallly after a long frikkin wait... i got my first jump off a 300' A sunday morning (thanks to my friend ****). seems now like everything kinda looks ... .... different. is it just me or is this normal? not sure how to describe it but for instance i'v been jus lookin at people randomly and thinkin to myself "wow! how can they live and not seek what i'v actually jsut done?!" how can people not seek that experience?! i'm not sure if i'v ever fealt more at peace in life than when i got on the top of that A! i think my heart rate was like 50bpm when i stepped over the rail. it was like TRUE peace and happiness. anybodyelse get this at all???

Take a deep breath my friend, enjoy...

Re: [mxcale] world looks different now
I had the same thoughts Wink

It seems to me like other people are waisting their lives on couches and becoming brain dead.
They don't have to BASE (it's not for everyone), but they should get off their asses and do something adventurous.

Re: [dan_inagap] world looks different now
totally blows my mind about all the people that are just kinda like filler in life. they just kinda live and then die. i dont know if alot of em even ever think about or know about half the activities out there. we celebrated at taco bell after the jump and all i could think of was how none of the people in there had any clue what we had just done. and probably had never ever ever ever thought about doing anything even close. i wish i could box the feeling i had when i was on top the A and give it to people who deserve it!!! i thank God everytime i think about how amazing it is to be physically able to do all the stuff i do!!! to bad more people waste it than there are that take advantage of it. ur here now so experience the earth and all there is to do on it!!! safe jumps to all and i hope i can add to the sport and people in it

That feeling you got... All the work, and time, effort to get there, Thats why it feels like that. And to explore the depth, it will be more work, more effort, more realizations, it is a journey.
Congratulations...

Hi Alan,

The first thread was September of 2008.
This thread started in February of 2010

During the intervening 17 months
mxcale
probably learned how little he knew and
how ill prepared he was at 70 skydives.

So now he or she has been born again by
more skydives and their 1st BASE jump Wink

now to inquire about the last post in that thread

Re: [GreenMachine] world looks different now
i actually think i was better prepared with 70 skydives as far as canopy skills cuz i scattered the next 17 months of skydiving out so much. much better prepared now mentally and stuff tho. i said right off the bat that i didnt know nuthin bout nuthin and only wanted to start the journey of base with building knowledge and stuff. and wow my first jump opened my eyes to alot!!!! but hhmmmm... i seriously musta missed sumthin. i'm totally losted! if anybody thinks i'm a dipshit just frikkin say look dude i think ur a dipshit. i'm ok with that but i'm way to dumb to figure out all this hidden meaning crap!

Re: [mxcale] world looks different now
Super Congratulation on entering this STRANGE, WIERD, and WONDERFUL world of BASE. I've been in it for nearly 30 years and I can tell you, there is nothing left that will top what you feel on exit and top the comradary you will learn with some of your closest BASE buddies.
IF YOU WILL INDULDGE ME, I WOULD LIKE TO ELABORATE ON THE TOPIC OF HOW COOL BASE IS.

You are correct, from now on, you will Never be quite the same person as before you went off the edge. Hunter Thompson used to say that the only way you can know what the edge really is, is to go off of it. , No matter what you do, you will always look at this moment as the MOST significant thing you've ever done. I guess it's a physiological thing, or a mental chemical thing, but my friend, YOU have just reached the top of the mountain. What you do with it is up to you. You can really improve on it by learning good skydiving skills. Learning good canopy skills. Learning good wingsuit skills. Then see where you can take the sport. I guarantee you, never in recent times has a new sport had the potential of defining new limits of human possibilities. It has only been 29 years since Carl invented the Acronym BASE and my jump buddy Phil Smith, earned BASE 1 in Jan. 81. Think about the start. We used to fly away from cliffs. Now, the good ones fly proximity to the cliff and even into these insane gorges and valleys with wingsuits. Even Carl Boenish would be astounded at the video opportunities now coming true with the best proximity wingsuit jumps.
ANYWAY, Congrats my friend. When you get all 4, let us know so we can connect you to the start of this crazy but wonderful sport with a BASE #!!
