Hi there. Just wanted to introduce myself to the community, seemed like the thing to do rather than just lurk around the public corners

I don't know what it is about BASE, its something to do with being a child again, and imagining falling more than flying (for me). Falling into the abyss (metaphorically or physically) seems to be the nightmare scenario for pretty much every walk of life, or thought...but, i dunno...from what i've heard from other peoples experiences, and from my own day dreams, there seems to be an almost meditative, peaceful quality to it. But thats just my dreamer bull!!

I have never BASE jumped; and never even skydived. Today marks the official beginning of my quest for both, but in the opposite order (think thats the official line lol)

Seriously though, i reckon you must get at least one dreamer roll up on this site every day and say "i'm going to be a BASE jumper, looks easy." So you must get sick of it!!!

But...i hope...I'm not one of them.

I'm more than happy to do 2000+ skydives before getting into BASE. I'm not impatient, and being in the sky, falling, is what appeals - be it from a plane, chopper, or static object.

Far as i'm concerned, the only drawback of the proper route is cost...being a lazy, poor student

But that's just an obstacle to be overcome, not a barrier!!!

Anyway, enough of the standard issue, "i'm a sensible guy really, who loves this sport" stuff. Will see ye around the forum hopefully!!

I too am a poor college student and my base career is on hold for now, i have a few jumps but i really have to put it on hold till i graduate and am able to get my own gear. I was using a friends gear for the few jumps i have. But one day i will be back to jump again.

thanks for realizing you need to take time and NOT be in a rush. skydiving is fun. you'll meet great people. BASE will be there when you are ready!

Im a dreamer too, over 3 years of drooling to videos and pictures, reading every bit of info I can find, and the longer I think about it, the less sure I am that I will ever do this "full time" Money is a big problem, hopefully within 2 months I will start my AFF and see where it goes from there...I'm not in a hurry The ultimate way for me would be to be a packer boy at some drop zone to live and breath skydiving until I find something better to do in life The only problem is that I'm not only person that would love to do that Good luck in your journey, dreams give us strength to cope with this fucked up world around us

When I started skydiving, I was also a poor student. I managed to fund four years of skydiving, and more than 500 jumps, using summer jobs, student loans, and scholarships, before I started BASE jumping.

It sounds like your head is in the right place. There's so much to learn from skydiving, and so much exploration there. You're going to love it! Along the way, you'll pick up a lot of information that will help you decide if you really want to fall off something.
