Peter Albert, aka Spin
Peter Albert, BASE 90, and a former member of several Canadian fs teams passed away in the last few weeks. Peter was reported missing in early January and his body was located Jan 22. I have no other details at this time.

Peter was on my first tower jump with me, and drove the getaway vehicle on my first building. Actually he had qualified for BASE 90 off that building and I was attempting to get BASE 91, but someone sneaked in ahead of me. I ended up with BASE 92.

He mentioned how after he got his personalized licence plate 'BASE90', he drove his van out west to tryout for the canadian fs team. When the other guys at the dz saw his licence plate, he had a hard time getting them to accept that he was a capable and safe skydiver. He persisted and represented canada at a couple of world meets.

Re: [sinjin] Peter Albert, aka Spin
Peter and Jo Stanley (base 82) were the first two to plan to jump the peter pan tower north of Toronto. They were sitting in the parking lot drinking their coffees about 1 in the morning, when a cop pulled into the lot and stopped across from the driver's door and rolled down his window, asking what they were doing there. Ever cool, Jo said they'd just pulled of the highway for a break and a coffee, and the cop said to move out once they finished their drinks. Jo and Peter drove off to Tim Horton's for some donuts, and returned about an hour later to do the jump.

On the Sunday morning jump Peter got his number (base 90), Jo jumped first and had a line-over or something, spinning down to land on the outdoor track on the third floor (surprisingly uninjured). Peter overshot the parking lot and landed hard against the curb out in the street. Some old guy was walking his dog on the other side of the street, and when he saw Peter land he crossed over to him. While Peter was feeling his limbs to see if anything was broken and whether he could get up, the dog gave him the once over while his owner looked up and said 'nice day for a jump, isn't it....'
