Whats the minimum wing loading
Whats the minimum safe wing loading?

I ordered a flik322(5vents) and lost 22lbs in the past 3 month due to injury, my current weight is 187lbs. Someone told me its unsafe to jump bellow .65 loading. Now i'm just wondering whats the minimum some guys out there jump. My normal weight with equipment is about 225lbs and we do mostly low jumps.

I'll appreciate any USEFUL info

Re: [FredPot] Whats the minimum wing loading
im 72 + 10 kg. and i have 282 canopy. so my WL is 0,64 and it has worked fine for years.

Hey dude, I've got around 100 jumps at a .59-.6 wl, no significant problems encountered. If your really worried, give those kids at apex a call.

sounds like old school thought. when everyone loaded their Dagger 200 to .8 and thought it was a great idea.

Jumping at .57-.63 for a few hundred jumps now. Everything from 180' freefalls to super terminal. seems to be working perfectly. WAY better than when I was at .75.

BUT those big parachutes have problems of their own I have heard. Not from experience though.

more prone to collapse in turbulence? In case of partially inflated Pc possibly takes longer to get a canopy over your head? BTW In case of tension knots, line over, etc would such a canopy be more manageable (please don't ask me to word it more specifically by telling me there are soo many variabbles to consider). I would think even in a stall the descent rate of such a canopy should slower relative to a smaller canopy with similar mal?

ive got a dagger310 im jumping at 194lbs no gear on... its fine at decent delays but slideroff or subterminal it kind of jellyfishes, with closed endcells...

id rather not jump a 322 at 180lbs..

I think that is just a low speed characteristic of a Dagger. I've seen Marta (and others) jump a Dagger numerous times and it always opens with those weird pressuration waves at sub-terminal.

You should be thankful it's not a Dragon.

flik322(5vents) well not have no problem at.5, when you start jumping again you well gain the weight right back so there is no problem, dagger310 is not flik, flik well not jellyfishes like dagger or lot's of the old canopy because of vent and the port.
