World's 500 Highest Bridges Website / China opens 2 highest bridges
Hi everyone!
After several long years of research and travel, I have finally finished the first ever website on the World's 500 Highest Bridges.
Several BASE jumpers that attended the 2008 Tiankeng Cave event in China would be surprised at just how many high bridges were being constructed nearby including the world's highest suspension and arch bridges on the nearby Hurong highway that opened in November. This incredible highway has 9 bridges that exceed 650 feet / 200 meters in height.
Further south in Guizhou Province, China opened the world's second greatest high bridge highway from Guiyang to Kunming with 2 suspension bridges that exceed 1,100 feet / 330 meters in height. The whole region of western China is so loaded with high bridges they now have one half of the world's 100 highest bridges. By 2020 it would not be surprising if China had 2/3rds of the world's 100 highest bridges which is simply amazing. In North America,
Discussions have been underway for a BASE event at one of Guizhou's highest bridges so hopefully that will happen sometime later this year.
In North America, Mexico will be the place to visit with several record breaking spans under construction on two new highways.
So enjoy the website and contact me with any questions you may have. Also be sure to read the "Introduction" page to understand height measurements as well as why reservoir bridges were also included even though they make up a small percentage of high bridges.
As always, keep safe!
Regards,
Eric Sakowski
