Ski Flying World Record
I'm not sure if this is a re-post or not but I think this guy could help Jeb Corliss with his Wingsuit Landing Project.

damn! that dude is one FLAT tracker!

And he is Norwegian :-)

Check his arms a bit wider than his shoulder, and a bit higher than his hips on level with his butt! Wide legs do it, but a bit wider than your arms is just fine. Head like you are filming straigth down almost. An arrow is a good def for the profile, or badminton ball.

But the Finnish guy flew even farther in more traditional tracking position:

Re: [themotherfuckingcaptain] Ski Flying World Record
is everyone talking about 240ish meters horizontal? How many vertical feet are those jumps?
Shortcut
Re: [themotherfuckingcaptain] Ski Flying World Record
Now where would they go if they were using a wingsuit?
Shortcut
Re: [icarusfx99] Ski Flying World Record
i actually saw one of these videos where the guy did wear a wingsuit and he lost a lot of distance from his usual jump. I think it has something to do with the angle of flight being changed with the skis on, so the wingsuit is more or less just forward drag caused the body being angled up a little bit. The wingsuit is basically just in mid flare the whole way down instead of the slightly head low body position that is used during regular wingsuit flight.

Just my opinion, could be wrong, Im sure Yuri has some equations for this...

bullshit.
Andreas Küttel, a swiss ski jumper borrowed a wingsuit from Ueli Gegenschatz.
From only half way up the slope he flew to the normal distance.
I don't know where to find the video, i think it was on Ueli's website.

BS that one guy, on one video, lost distance on his ski jump when he was wearing a wingsuit? No, not BS.

It is completely plausible that someone, somewhere is very bad at flying them you know. I said I could be wrong and it was just my opinion, but on the one I saw, his performance suffered.

Distance is measured from the takeoff toe the middle of the feet landing following the contour of the hill.

I'm not sure of the vertical distance but most ski jumps sit around 35 degrees in the middle of the landing hill and then start to flatten out at the critical point. it's only a few hundred feet. different hills have different radius at the bottom so max distance on equal size hills can change a lot.
tracking is pretty fun but coming over the knoll laying on a pair of skis knowing your flying it to the bottom is one of the coolest feeling i'v had

Re: [434] Ski Flying World Record
You guys think they have any rules against wearing a tracking suit during the Olympics?
Shortcut
Re: [themotherfuckingcaptain] Ski Flying World Record
There is rules about the suit how big, fabric, density etc. If they did not regulate the sport, they had to build new jumphills every time someone had a new improved idea, and that would been quite expensive, and maybe dangerous for the athletes. However I believe it is possible to jump 300, 400, 500 meter safe.

at this point the even have rules using the body mass index. if your too skinny you lose ski length. fat don't fly
