Re: [TreeRat] BASE #
Believe me, back when all this started, there were plenty of us "Night Ninja's" around and we all really believed in our BASE numbers. It was the start of a new wierd sort of family. These aren't numbers someone else lays on you, they are unique self chosen numbers that link us all into a very exclusive club started by some great friends of mine like Carl Boenish and my Houston jump buddy, Phil Smith who earned BASE 1 in 1981. I like some of my self chosen and self earned numbers like BASE, D license, SCR, NSCR, etc. They are much more meaningful to me than my SS number I can tell you that. Personal choice obviously, but so far I've never heard of a very good reason not to want a BASE number if you've jumped the 4 kinds of objects designed to gain a pretty full array of BASE jump experience. Besides, it's fun to explain to whuffos, even as long as I've been around. Good luck and there's one waiting for you if you'd like to share the same pages as those who decided this crazy magnificant activity could be a sort of sport for the very select few.
