Close Call
I did a solo ff off a 240 A tonight. I jumped pitched after .5 to 1 sec, realized I was a little too head high and opened about 90 left, facing the trees. I've turned a 90 with no problem ff from 225 but for some reason on this jump midway through correcting the 90 off I realized that I wasn't going to be able to finish the turn, or atleast it seemed like I couldn't. It all happened so fast, and it was so dark with no moon out, that I'm not sure if I was open lower than normal or if I was just not turning as quick as normal, but in any case I thought I'd stop the turn and land either in the water filled ditch or on the dirt road just shy of the tree line rather than turn myself into ground. What I should have done was let the right toggle up to half brakes and flare from there, but instead I made the stupid, stupid, stupid mistake of letting it up completely. As I surged towards the ground I thought, "shit, I am about to get fucked up." I immediately dug out with both toggles and landed hard on the dirt road but was uninjured.
