Re: [piisfish] Antarctica

That's the groop I ran into in Canada. I never really learned any of their names. I just called the one guy Poofy because his hair always stuck up every where. They were wild men, and woman, jumping off of every thing in sight.

Poofy quote: "We are camped over there. We have a jump right above our camp."
Me, "Really? Where?" Stareing across the fiord.
Poofy, "There, on that buttress right above our tent"
Me, "Oh, there... really" haveing driven past it and never really haveing conciddered it as a jump.
Poofy, "Yes. At the top you must jump very hard and the wall it is always comeing out underneath you. We call this The French Jump. These other walls, they are too high, and the overhangs they are too long. They are boreing."

Quote from Swiss Woman: They had been climbing and jumping a bunch of stuff. I think it was in africa. " We through every thing down after the climb. We only broke four beaners the rest they are all fine." She also mentioned that she was out of good swiss chocolate and that all the guys had brought infearior french chocolate and how she was suffering through this deprevation.

Another Poofy quote: "There is a ledge at nine sec but do not worry with a throw the rock goes past and then it is 22 sec!"
Later on said exit. Looking over the edge and dropping a rock... seven. Huh. Throwing a rock underhanded as hard as I know I can jump... seven and not that close to the edge. Huh. Damnd french men.
Later talking to Poofy. Poofy, "No No, you must throw like this." mimeing winding up and throwing over hand like a base ball.

Another Poofy quote: He's passing me like I'm standing still on the hike eyeing the peace of 9.5 I'm humping up there as I go looking for another exit point. Poofy, "You should use dyneema. Very good for base jumping."
Me, "You mean cord?"
Poofy, "Yes, yes. Very skinny. Very light weight but very strong."
Me, "you mean you repel and jug chalk cord, like for hexes?"
Poofy,"Very good for base. Very easy to carry." By now he's well past me. I just wrote it off as being some new ultra light weight european thing.

I kind of filed them all in the crazy department but they were no shit good. Good enough to do all of these jumps. And they were fucking anamals jumping every thing that stuck up above the ground poping cherries every where, Broad Peak, Great cross, some thing over by walker Citadale. I think I know what they jumped there and that's another good Poofy quote. Poofy, "It took a very long time to find a place to jump because it is not very overhanging."
Me thinking of what I think they were jumping, "No shit that thing doesn't over hang at all!"

Although I was often left shakeing my head they were a lot of fun.

Re: [baldas] Antarctica
Steve Mulholland also reportedly made at least one BASE jump in Antarctica in the 90s. I haven't confirmed the object, but I have a strong speculation. He later perished in a skydive over the south pole.

I supposed that Poofy was Seb too. Just saw him a couple of times, mostly in Chateau d'Oex for the Hot Air Balloon week where he was doing demo jumps for his sponsor.

The Swiss LAdy is Géraldine (Gé)
