I looked on their web site and they have skydiving and base jumping videos with it, but i figured id ask people who have actually jumped it before i waste time and $$$ on it. (ill also use it for skiing biking etc)

Yep, just got one. Only jumped it twice so far. The vid is HEEPS better than the older gopro. The pics are about the same. I'm loven it so far. I've also taken it freediving/spearfishing to about 80' & out on jet skis. It doesn't have the black spot on the sun & the batt last WAY longer than the non HD. I'll attach a pic, I took from the vid so you can the the quality.

How does it perform in low light? my videos suck of sunrise jumps on the older gopro

just 2 x gopro HDs. we will see the results of the footage after two weeks in LB.

Yea, definite improvement from the old in low light. Course, that isn't saying much. Still not WONDERFUL, but way better. Hope that helps lol.

Took mine on a full moon night jump with snow on the ground. Not much of a picture but it was a bit hazy out too. Now only if I could get my damn computer to play HD video without skipping.....

What format of video does the HD Go Pro take? Load it onto the computer and it pops up in what? Quicktime, Windows Media Player.......?

It comes up in quicktime. I converted it to windows once but the outcome was crappy.

its MP4 so it works with quicktime and VLC also.

Oh ya I forgot about VLC. I only have a 2ghz processor in my laptop so in VLC it plays back a little choppy in 960p. In quicktime 960 plays back fine. 1080 on the other hand looks like a stop motion video. All kinds of glitches. Sigh. Ill get a faster computer one day.

Dang, What kind of program can edit Quicktime videos. My digital camera takes good videos but its on QT and I dont know how to edit the videos. I would relly like to edit some of them.....

My recently posted movie contained video
shot on my Sony PC 101 and two GoPro
cameras that show up as Quicktime files.
I used iMovie on my Mac, it worked fine.

Aren't there some truly computer savvy types out there that can make a total format conversion program, (freeware) in which you can edit in any format??

I get that there's competition between software companies, but sheesh!

Go to REI. Ya they are 299, but if your a member you get 10% back from it at the end of the year. Bonus is they offer a no questions asked lifetime warrenty. I have had to return 3 gopro hd's in the last 3 months, they just give you another one. I had the black closing latch break 3 different times, go pro said they had a batch of bad molds that slipped by them and went out to retail stores. If you have one break just email them, and they will send out 2 or 3 of the newer upgraded ones.

Just go to the store and fill out the form. I think membership is 20 bucks, but thats a one time fee. After that you will get a check for 10% of what you spent there that year.

ffmpeg can convert just about anything and it's free/open source. I haven't used the Windows version as I'm one of those "computer savvy types" and use Linux - but I'd recommend a front end if the command line scares you.

I've been using "Any video converter". Also free and its got an easy to use front end.
But for my HD cx100 I use Emicsoft M2ts converter, its in demo mode, but it still converts videos below 5min.

if you have a proper 4 chip computer with enough memory, pinnacle hd 24 software you dont need any converters. it takes all, normal AVI,MPEG4,MTS etc...
