taken from their website: "Shockproof, Bombproof, Waterproof to 180’ / 60m"

The Hero Naked is good for people who already own the SD GoPro and have the mounts they need. If you don't have any mounts, I would buy the package that is most usable for the sports you do.

Granted, I'm a big fan of duct tape. But their mounts are small, easy to use, and do a great job of providing multiple mounting options for their camera. Plus it's only $40 USD more to get all the helmet mounts.

Sounds like a good deal to me ;-)

Get it, get the mounts. Ive seen sick scuba dives owith it and done a lot of jumps with them. Once you figure out the interface you are going to love it. I would get the chest mount too.

Pro:I now wear the go pro with the chest mount while I take Mr Prick from behind.....better than on my helmet, cause I now can hear him scream, thats why i really like it - and lubrication doesnt harm it
Con: cant look at it immediately after I am done

Re: [Faber] Go Pro Hero
I was told by the people at GoPro it has gone even deeper then 180 ft. But they recommend not going any deeper then that.

I was shooting with it in Malaysia this last trip and was blown away by the quality coming out of something so small. I didn't even notice I was wearing it. You can wear like 4 of them and not notice a performance drop in your wing-suit flying or your base jumping. Here is some of the video I shot in KL.

Next month I am going to take it on it's first shark dives. So I will let you know how it performs at depth :) Most of the dives will only be from 10 to 80 ft though :)

I broke my left foot, twisted my right ankle and cracked my hip in two places. Your basic skate boarding injuries :) it was about 5 weeks ago and now I am doing pretty good. A month in a wheel chair with use of crutches for short distances. Then a few days on c

Two questions:

1. What are you guys using to edit footage? Final Cut seems to have trouble importing the files, and when it does, it can't keep up with playback in the editor.

2. During play back - un-edited footage in quicktime, footage "skips" in a rhythm (play-play-play-skip-play-play-play-skip)....

I'm going to add more RAM to the computer to see if this helps both issues.

There's a bit of info that sounds like it might be relevant here http://www.dropzone.com/..._reply;so=ASC;mh=25;

Starts at the bottom of page 3.

Re: [monkey1031] Go Pro Hero
The skipping often has to do with the type of compression used, which doesnt allow the software to acces frames at random (keyframes needing previous frames to build up the image). Adding more RAM probably wont fix the issue.

Its best to take the files from the camera, and convert them to something your editing software handles better.

For Macs, usually Quicktime with a native video codec (often Apple ProRes).

handbrake is a great (free) conversion tool (available for both Mac and PC)

Re: [mccordia] Go Pro Hero
From my contact at GoPro that does a lot of their video editing.....

"yeah, Final Cut doesn't support the 720p60. It needs a high quality conversion. I use www.squared5.com a free program called streamclip to convert it to a .mov (ProRes)

Other than that... it's probably because their computer is too old to handle the HD. Even computers that are 3 years old have trouble.

I would also direct any of those people to email support directly. support@gopro.com
those guys are walking alot of people thru technical difficulties :) "

If you find this helpful, maybe throw this up on the dropzone forum that was technical questions. My work computers do not allow access to dropzone.com (but works with BJ.com, weird eh)

Are you editing in PAL? I'm pretty sure the hero's are all ntsc, 30 frames per sec, and if you're editing with pal or film settings, ie 24 or 25 fps you will get a skip every second or so.

I'm becoming "happily frustrated" with this little toy. I see it's potential, but at the same time realize I'm not current with the newer formats that are used by non-tape formats.

Here's where I'm at:
Mac G5
NTSC
I'm shooting in 1080p @ 30 frames per second
I'm trying to find an appropriate method to import into Final Cut Pro (vs. 5.0.4).
I THOUGHT that FCP was MPEG-4 compatible. Looking at the file info, (right from the camera) the file IS MPEG-4.
When imported into FCP with out any compression, FCP can't keep up -
When compressed as a .mov and imported into FCP - it will keep up, but the resolution isn't as good.

I'm really stupid. I mean, really stupid. Anyone who's got any advice will receive many Karma points, to be credited to an offshore account.

This is not an answer, merely commiserating with you.

I too have a Mac G5 and FCP, yet due to laziness I still

use iMovie to edit my jump flicks, luckily my SD GoPro

footage imports easily. Good luck and your comment

about the off shore karma account was funny.
