Anyone have a nice mount theyve come up with for a gopro to get that awesome heel mounted wingsuit shot? Going to start building something myself pretty soon, just want to see what other people have come up with.
Can't you just wrap the wrist strap around your foot and adjust the angle of the camera to get the shot you want (forward or backwards)? Seems to me I've seen this done before.
I used one of the mounts that came with it, and rigged it up through my shoelaces, tight on my heel. The footage wasn't very good though, mostly all you see is my leg and wingsuit fabric. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mC-RKBFhRak
It was pretty cool footage as a toe mount on Brit who was just jumping a tracking suit. I never came up with anything to toe-mount it over my bootie of my wingsuit.
custom foot mount and sample photo. keeps the camera to the side of your ankle, so no flapping fabric. has a cut-a-way as well in case things get ugly.
good question... it actually does not need to be that big. The plate is there for when I un-screw the GoPro mount and use it as a smoke bracket. In theory, it could be improved by simply putting the gopro attachment directly onto the thinner aluminum rod. Would reduce wind vibration and over-all size. Look for that in the next model
I've seen a skydiver at the dz that bends a 2in wide, 6-8in long flat metal bar, like you would put a sign on, has holes I believe for easier bending. Bend it so that it goes under the sole of your foot, up the heel and back down the shoe. With the appropriate measurements. You should be able to mount the gopro on it, ws fabric can get in frame if not careful.
