It's ok, just the way the british journalist writes the thing is very annoying. Even though I agree with what he is saying in essence, the whole way he tries to manipulate the reader just pisses me off.
The canadian woman, surely she can get assistance form the embassy or something. Canada had allowed a white South African to apply for political asylum... 6 months doesn't sound too bad to me either. Ok the razor blade thing was a bit weird, but hey you do the crime you pay the price. Dubai is not Canada and surely if he was in a management position he was not stupid enough to assume any different (even with a tumor... which might not even be true also).
I sympathize mostly with the laborer and I don't know if he used the other examples so that us westerners could relate.
